At times is like exquisitely carved flowers or an artist's palette with droplets of avocado mustard replacing the drip of oil paint
-
Rubbing shoulders with Tiffany's jewellers the restaurant
-
Once an echoey and empty foyer with a ridiculously high ceiling it now reverberates to the regular clink of glasses and tinkling laughter
-
While the kitchens and larder are hidden away below ground
-
Waldorf slaw or the pressed wild rabbit and smoked mallard with poached blackberries are typical of the exotic combinations that tempt and they're just the starters
-
Among the mains the steaks are dry aged for no less than 45 days
-
With the proliferation of bankers in the area it was inevitable beef would feature strongly
-
The menu's real success is its seafood dishes
-
Starting with the yellowfin tartare with a spiced avocado black pepper dressing and the wild bass ceviche with mango
-
While not shy serves either they were the perfect light starter to a long lunch
-
At this point we were still sipping one of the house bloody marys
-
The roast Peterhead cod fillet with brown shrimp
-
Vegetables and lemon vinaigrette main had arrived for my friend and the scallop and shrimp burger with kimchee and chips for me
-
Soaking through into the bun and filling my nostrils with an evocative burst of coastal flavours
-
The bomb Alaska was a thing of teased beauty and the soufflé
-
Made sure we accompanied this with some Hungarian dessert wine Royal Tokaji
-
Just as the bar began to fill up with office workers finishing for the day
-
The question really is who will be next to take up a position in this new high end enclave at the base of the tower
-
find but the staff are warm and impeccable
-
The atmosphere is really relaxed
-
The bar is stocked and the menu is enticing with a hint of retro classic
-
The produce is of superlative quality and it&rsquo
-
Steak Tartare was the best my date had ever tasted
-
Soft Shell Crab was pure luxury and the Burnt Orange ice cream a delight
-
I hear they are even doing an all day Saturday Bottomless Brunch
-
Perfect for those not too sure where this is going brunch dates we sulkily pencil into our diaries and then end up enjoying immensely &ndash
-
Add to this a sophisticated cocktail list and you are on to a serious winner
-
Raspberry Bellinis are a tad dangereux also
-
There is a live pianist for on tap romance moments and the cocktails are stunning AND lethal
-
T even matter as you are transported back to another place in time anyway
-
When that pianist gets going and the cocktails are slipping down the back of your neck
-
I got a little excited when I saw that One Canada Square was doing a special Ice Cream for Breakfast Day menu
-
We both really liked the soft shell crab 'Benedict' which was light and crisp
-
Nicely presented with lovely vibrant colours
-
I liked the texture of the meat which thankfully was not minced up too much or overly seasoned
-
WK had the Dorset crab linguini which was also quite tasty
-
Pan fried peanut butter and jam sandwich served with maple cured bacon ice cream I loved the sound of every single ingredient
-
Sandwiched between them were scrumptious layers of peanut butter and jam
-
That bacon ice cream was just calling out to me
-
The hot ricotta cakes were stacked up with pieces of bacon strips in between
-
Topped off with creamy blueberry ripple ice cream
-
The food overall was tasty and good value for money as well
-
They made sure that my bellini was always replenished
-
The kitchen is in charge of chef Jamie Dobbin
-
One Canada Square is located in Canary Wharf
-
T help but over hear loud screeching from a group of dolled up young ladies and I was bit apprehensive about how the night would turn out
-
I quickly got over this once the menu was placed in front of me
-
Starters I had the cured and smoked venison with spiced rhubarb and watercress
-
The meat itself was very tasty
-
The smoked haddock and leek soup with a salt cod scotch egg was extremely good
-
Samphire and champagne sauce was my choice for mains
-
The cod was cooked to perfection and was a nice meaty piece of fish
-
The slow braised pork belly with sweet potato
-
The meat was very well cooked and salty pork belly was complimented well with the sweet potato
-
A deconstructed rhubarb cheesecake and hazelnut crisp was a beautiful dessert
-
Flavours of sweet and sharp with each mouthful
-
A white chocolate and pistachio brownie with popcorn ice cream and hot chocolate sauce was an elegant looking plate of food
-
The waiting team were great and very efficient and extremely friendly
-
The art deco style of the restaurant makes for a good surrounding and with a pianist in the corner
-
The starter pumpkin special was inventive and tasty and then salty chocolate desert was divine if I am honest
-
So technically this is not part 1
-
Many brunches later and there are still brunches in London left to try and so this group is still going strong
-
Obviously these are not as busy as they would be during the working week but as we approached One Canada Square for a Saturday brunch
-
I started with cured trout which was nice but a small portion of three thin strips of fish
-
Others starters at the table with mushrooms on toast and terrine looked more generous
-
I think the fish dishes are just generally small here
-
Because my colleague who ordered the cod main thought her dish was quite small
-
The best looking main on the table was the short rib of beef
-
Most of us got the Xmas turkey main with all the classic trimmings and there were plenty of complaints
-
Instead of pigs in blankets there was a slice of griddled pork
-
There were some roast parsnips and carrots which were not on the menu accompanying the brussels sprouts which were
-
When my colleagues continued to moan we were eventually brought some undercooked pigs in blankets and overly stiff bread sauce
-
I got the chocolate and praline pudding whch was actually more of a rich chocolate mouse
-
Nicely presented with lovely vibrant colors
