So we were happy to find that there was room in a downstairs area
-
We all ordered the small mixed grill which was well cooked and very filling
-
9.50 the food isn't exactly cheap but for the amount you get it is very satisfying (I can't imagine how I wouldv'e felt after the large mixed grill)
-
The service was unobtrusive but very friendly and with no compulsory service charge you will not feel at all aggrieved to add the 12.5% yourselves
-
An additional point is the restaurant doesn't serve alcoholic drinks (due to licensing) but this is no problem as BYOB just helps the bank balance and there is a Sainsbury's Local very near by
-
Overall a good meal at an affordable price with friendly service and due to BYOB you can also have a few drinks with your meal
-
The place is very busy at usual peak periods and although the restaurant is set over two levels
-
NOTE this restaurant does NOT have a liquor licence so it's bring your own alcohol (which is openly accepted) or you have the soft drinks and mineral water they have for sale
-
Warm Bread and dip is a complimentary offering as you browse the menu and is refilled for no extra charge too
-
I had a fun night but that was more due to the company than the place
-
My friend was in town and because it was that awkward period just before pay day
-
Said friend's flight was delayed and the restaurant was happy to accommodate when I called at 6.30
-
3 as the restaurant now has actually has a license (and to be honest the bottles of wine are only about £
-
Watch out for the menu as well their translations are a tad out of sync
-
The hummus is pretty so so and you're provided with french bread to dip with so be warned
-
We thought this was just complementary at the beginning and devour it all before the dips arrived
-
The atmosphere on a Thursday evening was pretty non existent
-
They tried their best to add some background noise with what I assume to be authentic Turkish music
-
Overall if your criteria for a dinner out with friends are the same as Phoebe's above
-
If your expectations are slightly higher (i
-
Olives and Figs is worth trying
-
Extremely succulent with hints of spice
-
They even do warm bread with dips to start
-
Prices and portions are reasonable with mains costing around 10 a head
-
This a Turkish BYOB restaurant down a small road called Artillery Passage (there is a chance you may get lost
-
The mains are decent portions and come with rice and salad most at £
-
I still prefer Adiva on Commercial Road if you are going for a Turkish BYOB though
-
Turkish food like Iranian food is at its best when most simple
-
Olives and Figs near Old Spitalfields Market provides all this and with its laid back vibe in the form of its Bring Your Own Alcohol
