Olives and Figs (Spitalfields)

• So we were happy to find that there was room in a downstairs area
• We all ordered the small mixed grill which was well cooked and very filling
• 9.50 the food isn't exactly cheap but for the amount you get it is very satisfying (I can't imagine how I wouldv'e felt after the large mixed grill)
• The service was unobtrusive but very friendly and with no compulsory service charge you will not feel at all aggrieved to add the 12.5% yourselves
• An additional point is the restaurant doesn't serve alcoholic drinks (due to licensing) but this is no problem as BYOB just helps the bank balance and there is a Sainsbury's Local very near by
• Overall a good meal at an affordable price with friendly service and due to BYOB you can also have a few drinks with your meal
• The place is very busy at usual peak periods and although the restaurant is set over two levels
• NOTE this restaurant does NOT have a liquor licence so it's bring your own alcohol (which is openly accepted) or you have the soft drinks and mineral water they have for sale
• Warm Bread and dip is a complimentary offering as you browse the menu and is refilled for no extra charge too
• I had a fun night but that was more due to the company than the place
• My friend was in town and because it was that awkward period just before pay day
• Said friend's flight was delayed and the restaurant was happy to accommodate when I called at 6.30

• The hummus is pretty so so and you're provided with french bread to dip with so be warned
• We thought this was just complementary at the beginning and devour it all before the dips arrived
• The atmosphere on a Thursday evening was pretty non existent
• They tried their best to add some background noise with what I assume to be authentic Turkish music

• I still prefer Adiva on Commercial Road if you are going for a Turkish BYOB though
