  • Had a fantastic birthday meal here with a huge gang of us

  • Whilst cocktails were original and dangerously delicious

  • We were very well taken care of with all our requests catered to and prompt service throughout the whole meal

  • A great place for low key drinks and nibbles with a significant other

  • We were seated on the patio and the place was decorated in a typical Mexican fashion with bright colours

  • Guacamole topped with tons of pork

  • Next time I come I'm going to try the ceviche because I heard good things about it and will probably share the nachos again because they were truly delicious

  • Machete (Hackney) is very appropriate for dinner and cocktails

  • The ambiance is very nice here

  • The menu is quite variant and the collection of cocktails is quite good as well

  • The food and drinks are very well presented which is a delight

  • The burritos were just perfect

  • I was brought here by my daughter when I was looking for a new place to eat at

  • The mexican salad and the items made of fish were amazing and went perfectly with proseco

  • The service was pretty efficient and quick

  • The sole downside of Machete (Hackney) are the no cocktails on the menu

  • I must say the place is very delightful

  • In fact their outdoor seating area is particularly amusing

  • I had intended to eat outside owing to the wonderful whether but sadly i was told it was not available

  • Neighboring customers was asked if they would like to sit outside

  • The desserts are also worth a try

  • The meat in the filling was full of flavor and was soft and juicy

  • The service is also spot on

  • We loved the salad and bass ceviche which were cooked to perfection

  • The cocktails were the highlight of our evening some of the best in London

  • I had very high expectations with the place and they all went in vain after trying the Mexican food

  • The food they serve does not have the proper flavors and was a big disappointment

  • We went to Machete (Hackney) last weekend and it was quite full yet the customer service was quite efficient and attentive

  • The decor of Machete (Hackney) is simple and soothing and not too loud

  • The cocktails here are absolutely amazing and the food is quite delicious

  • Everything is quite affordable and great value for money

  • The staff is great and pleases you with their amicable service

  • There are only a handful of good Mexican joints in the city and this is definitely one of them

  • The food was really incredible in taste and the portions were substantial

  • The prices for the same was quite appropriate too

  • Saturday night was spent eating our fill of Mexican food and mojitos in Machete

  • Where there was a window into the kitchen

  • I scooped it up with yet more tortilla chips

  • Everything came with tortilla chips

  • It had a laid back vibe and is the kind of place I wish I had within walking distance of my own home

  • One of these weekend walks usually ends with a boozy picnic or going to the pub

  • There are a few great little restaurants around Victoria Park but the human heart and swords on the windows of this little blue Mexican was an unusual approach to enticing customers and intrigued me

  • Sour cream and black beans that were not only tasty but incredibly filling

  • With so many toppings some of the chips at the bottoms did go soggy and things got a little messy (I could have used cutlery like a civilized person but where is the fun in that)

  • So sharing nachos was probably enough for lunch but we were celebrating and I the menu was too appealing to simply order one thing

  • The tacos were small but loaded with topping &ndash

  • The flavours almost took me back to Venice Beach LA (This is the closest I have ever been to Mexico despite having a half Mexican boyfriend)

  • The tacos were great but for me the smokey chipotle sauce that they came served with was the star of the show

  • Yet packed with smoldering flavours

  • I think that the food being served on silver plates is very much a love or hate feeling

  • The whole vibe of the restaurant was laid back and local

  • Drink or bill but I would much rather step into this type of chilled environment than one filled with robot staff that are ushering you out the door as soon as you have put your fork down

  • I barely looked past the Bloody Jesus Mom the classic Mary made with tequila and a definite lifesaver with the perfect amount of kick

  • The food menu is simple with towering plates of nachos on offer

  • There's a first time for everything so I bit the bullet and ordered the carnitas (pork) burrito and was definitely not disappointed

  • The burrito was stuffed with the melt in the mouth pork
