What people say about Kimchee (Holborn)
-
First thing you'll see upon entering is the massive multilayered grill where the meat is cooked
-
That's what Kimchee is mostly about
-
The bulgogi is just perfect
-
The venue is very beautiful with high ceilings and wooden tables
-
Kimchee (Holborn) is always busy
-
It is amazing how cheap the food is for the quality that you get
-
Always full so booking is highly recommended
-
My favourite is the spicy yuk hwae (raw beef and egg) and pork bulgogi
-
What I love as well is the raw beef bulgogi
-
The cocktail Soju Red was great as well
-
The food here is really good
-
The restaurant is absolutely beautiful
-
Kimchee (Holborn) is a real gem and I've been several times with different types of people who have all loved it
-
I'm hugely into Asian cuisine so was crazy about the food
-
I've hardly tried Korean food before coming here and was certainly not disappointed
-
The inside is very modern and slick
-
Was disappointing as it was literally just flavoured cabbage not very filling
-
Their udon selection is yummy and all the food looked quite healthy and colourful
-
We came back to find a short queue and indeed we were quickly whisked to our table
-
The seating is similar to busaba eathai and wagmama
-
The chicken was a bit lukewarm for something that was deep fried but the batter was crispy and the sauce was tasty but on the sweet side
-
Not the best one I've ever had but it was satisfied my craving for it
-
It was nice that it was served with lettuce leaves
-
I've been to other Korean restaurants with better food but none that had the atmosphere and the service of kimchee
-
The toilets were nice as well which is always a plus
-
The food was very tasty but the waiting staff was rather questionable
-
I fancied eating out and met up with a friend on Friday in a spare of the moment choice
-
You sit in a mini stone garden with water feature
-
Vegetables in a oyster Sauce served with a cube of sticky rice
-
Due to the oyster sauce it was well presented and the portion size was respectable
-
I thing Koba is definitely he outstanding one of the three
-
I don't think its fair that this review is based on once dish
-
Whether it is the large seating space inside
-
The large restaurant seems to go on forever and is filled with communal tables where you can slurp noodle broths
-
The bar lounge downstairs is a hidden gem
-
Cor is Eastern inspired with an open pan
-
Service was the major letdown with dishes coming out at different times and the scatty staff
-
A glass of Prosecco was poured and brought to me
-
Cocktail which was true to its name and had a tangy yet sweet taste
-
Whilst my detoxing friend chose a green tea that arrived in a heavy lead pot with contents that never seemed to end
-
The Yam Yeung Chicken was deliciously crispy in a thick
-
Whilst the Yuk Hwae is true to its Korean roots and contains thinly sliced raw beef
-
Asian pear and a sesame sauce that is guaranteed to warm you up
-
The Kimchee was not my favourite
-
Rice and vegetables were a struggle to finish
-
The noodle dishes were wholesome and with very soft noodles
-
The tiny pieces of pork in it are few and far between
-
The Katsu udon dish was similar but with slices of fried chicken on top
-
A very varied and full flavoured menu with something for everyone
-
It's been more than a week but I still happen to remember each dish with it's taste to relish
-
Specially the grilled chicken which they serve with pakchoi leaves on the side
-
You can order rice to go with it if you like
-
The manager is the worst of the lot
-
S worth dining early as despite the number of tables available there is often a queue spanning outside the restaurant
-
Where the meat and fish dishes are cooked in full view by a what looks like way too many chefs
-
S national dishes and Kimchee is prominent on the menu
-
Rice cooked in a hot stone bowl with toppings of your choice
-
I tried the Katsu Curry with Udon Noodles and it was full of flavour
-
The portion was slightly on the small side compared to the hearty Katsu Curries served at Satsuma and Wagamamas
-
With this in mind I could have done with a second course
-
The stand out feature of my meal was the Plum tea
-
Ve not tried one that has tasted this good and the flavour combined well with the food itself
-
The fact that it was served in a traditional black iron tea pot also added to its charm
-
S vision when he founded Kimchee was to bring the flavours from his native Korean to Londoners
-
At an affordable price and this is certainly the case
-
Side dishes are about £
-
Prices which are rarely seen central London
-
Despite the hoard of staff employed here the service is all over the place
-
Overall Kimchee is a good venue for a casual cheap meal
-
T trust it with special occasions
-
The restaurant has a stylish setting with an open plan kitchen so that you can see your food being prepared
-
The meat is full of flavour with a bit of a spicy punch
-
It comes with an extra optional fruity and spicy sauce which is also lovely and adds even more to the taste
-
The starter was a bit bigger than expected
-
The dishes were served quite artistically on a special wooden plate / box and a pot for the rice
-
Especially as for me food is not only a means to appease hunger but also an enjoyable pastime
-
I am pretty familiar with Asian cuisine
-
A modern Korean restaurant with various traditional Korean dishes
-
I've tried the bibimbap and pork belly dish and they are both tasty and have good portion
-
Recently I visited Kimchee (Holborn) with couple of friends for a late dinner
-
May be because it was Saturday evening
-
Beef tongue was really good
-
It was served with a sauce and a dip with some lettuce
-
It was very spicy soup with lots of seafood and tofu
-
Prices I would say are a bit higher side
-
Me nothing else is so appealing
-
A lot of their foods in my opinion are a bit too sweet
-
I had the Udon noodles last time I went and was pretty disappointed
-
T necessarily recommend these but then again the meat dishes are really good and so are the starters such as the dumplings
-
I was disappointed with the quality of the food
-
A poor first experience with Korean food
-
King prawn was very tasty and fresh
-
Ve pretty much only read poor reviews is never a good start&hellip
-
We went to experience our first ever Korean meal last week and as I was reading up on it on the internet it wasn&rsquo
-
There was a queue and were surprised to see that the massive restaurant was full &ndash
-
Inside the decor was sleek and stylish
-
T know what it was but I wanted it
-
A Soju Red A sweet shot of raspberry liqueur blended with Soju and crushed ice
-
Blueberry liqueur mixed with Soju and crushed ice
-
The others are made from Makgeolli
-
We thought how cheap they were compared to most restaurant cocktails
-
Kimchee (a traditional fermented Korean dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings) &ndash
-
Pickled cabbage Kimchee with chilli and garlic £
-
T look very appetising but was actually OK
-
We had a laugh trying to pick up the slippery cabbage leaves with chopsticks
-
Soft shell crab fried in breadcrumbs served with a plum dipping sauce £
-
It had a light flavour with a lovely crunchy coating
-
I dipped mine in the sweet and sticky plum sauce but Ade kept it simple and ate his with a dribble of lime juice
-
Pancake with mung bean and vegetables served with a soy and chive sauce £
-
We ended up with Bulhogi &ndash
-
Thinly sliced beef marinated in a fruity sauce with onions and garlic £
-
Both dishes come with crisp lettuce leaves for you to make your own little wraps
-
Another must try we were told was Chicken Bimimbap a rice dish served in a sizzling hot earthenware pot
-
The rice at the bottom of the pot is meant to be crunchy and golden brown but it wasn&rsquo
-
Especially as the chicken portion was quite small
-
Hot Pot Bulgogi thinly slices beef in a soy marinade cooked with vegetables and glass noodles in a steaming broth £
-
Any description of a dish with the word &lsquo
-
The glass noodles were fascinating and gloopy
-
It also helped liven up the chicken Bibimbap which was quite unremarkable in comparison
-
Be warned of the cherries with stones in though
-
Luckily there were only a few options which made for easy choosing
-
Traditional soft chocolate rice cakes with a dusting of cocoa powder £
-
Am sure these prices are the wrong way round
-
The chocolate oozed out as they were torn apart
-
We ended the night with a cup of Korean tea £
-
It smelt like a boys changing rooms so it was a mission to get past that smell and to get it in my mouth
-
Makgeolli mixed with blueberry liqueur
-
Shaken with crushed ice and finished with blueberries £
-
The colour were fantastic &ndash
-
They also have a brilliant website with pictures of the food (and drink) on the menu
-
I came here with a large group of people
-
The service was a bit off and although the decor was interesting
-
The fruit juices on offer were mango or berry
-
The mango did not stand out and the berry was quite sour
-
Next to come was the star of the show
-
Sizzling and sticky with a copulous amount of seafood
-
Not the best sides but were enjoyable nonetheless
-
The tables and chairs themself are on the smaller side and it may be a bit difficult getting in and out
-
The kitchen is also on display to show diners of the food preparation and is the only lit up thing as the main dining area is not
-
It was one of my first Korean restaurant experience and I was actually quite taken with Kimchee (Holborn) situated just a few minutes from Holborn station
-
The restaurant itself is visually quite pleasing
-
The seating area is quite good for big groups as they are long tables aligned next to each other
-
Kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake) and fried vegetable mandu (dumplings) with 3 bowls of rice
-
The bulgogi was a little bland
-
The kimchi jeon was probably my favourite that evening
-
Even though the mandu was quite satisfying as well and was the dish that was finished first
-
You hardly see any cabbage inside) and was not too spicy nor too tangy
-
Baesuk with icecream (steamed pear with icre cream of your choice) and green tea jelly with matang (green tea ice cream with sweet potato)
-
The hot pear goes so well with the ice cream and simply melts in your mouth
-
I mean the sweet potato was nice and all
-
I guess it's a good place to go in big groups with people who are not too familiar with Korean cuisine as the restaurant atmosphere feels sophisticated
-
The fact that the restaurant is never empty speaks for itself
-
That their Kimchi pancake was a lot better than the ones they make at my favourite Korean place On The Bab
-
Okay the restaurant is visually pleasing with modern decor
-
The food in my opinion doesn't compare with the other traditional Korean restaurants
-
The portions are fairly small making Kimchee not great value for money
-
The open kitchen is very large and sharing table reminded of Busaba eathai dining space
-
The background for eating so little was the fact that I wasn't actually supposed to be there
-
Some old university friends of mine were meeting there for dinner and finishing work at the time I usually do meant that I declined
-
I decided a delicious Korean meal with some of my favourite people was just what the doctor ordered and off I went
-
The food arrived quite promptly and was piping hot
-
The food and egg are continuing to cook
-
The atmosphere was great busy and chaotic
-
I can't quite remember what we chose but it was all very good and very reasonably priced
-
Wait staff was lovely but very rude manager
-
When we asked for any possible compensation we were told it was not possible and the manager tried to offer compensation by removing service charge which is optional anyway
-
My understanding is that they do not
-
Because their staff clearly have no understanding of how important it is to treat every customer equally
-
This type of service is truly disappointing
-
A avocado salad (just ok) and the main dish made of rice and beef which was good but could be improved with more flavour (we used the sauce from the dumplings)
-
Dessert we had panacotta which was very enjoyable
-
Moreso when you choose this for a first date the seating is ought to be comfortable we got the window table
-
Food Allergy is not kept on mind
-
The soy sauce is used even in Chicken and other meat dishes
-
One of the best Korean food I have had in London
-
A snowy cold day it was unusually busy but good service
-
I was just passing when i was invited to come and try korean food
