  • Served in a metal bowl and topped off with a slice of cheese

  • That was my first encounter with On The Bab

  • Now they opened their second restaurant in Covent Garden with great new additions to their menu

  • The industrial interior is as warm and welcoming as the Shoreditch one with its marble surfaces

  • Makes the whole eating experience much more relaxing as you don't have to cuddle with your seat neighbour

  • On The Bab has even intensified it's focus on anju food usually eaten with alcohol by offering quite a few more cocktails and drinks

  • My favourite dish was the Fried Chicken with Spring Onions

  • The spring onions were marinated in this awesome sweet and tangy sauce that had a hint of spice due to the chilli flakes

  • The chicken itself was a little drier than the usual Soy Garlic Fried Chicken I get

  • This texture actually blended incredibly well with the spring onions

  • Number 2 for me was the On The Roll with fried chicken

  • Rice wrapped in seaweed in a roll with seasoned vegetables

  • Though filled with fried chicken and topped off with fried shallots it was a mix of soft and crunchy and full of flavour

  • You get a platter with rice rolled up in seaweed next to your chosen meat

  • The beauty of it is the fact that you can eat the rice roll together with all the sides or separately

  • The bulgogi we ordered with it was tender and well marinated

  • While the anchovies were chewy and sweet (probably not something for everyone

  • The seaweed salad was refreshing

  • Tangy and crunchy and went incredibly well with the fried chicken

  • What I liked about the salads was also the fact that they come in cute little glass jars

  • On The Bab did not disappoint and even impressed with their new dishes

  • On The Bab is a special place for me

  • I first visited it (with my now best foodie buddy V

  • We started by perusing the menu with a sweet Cherry Blossom Cocktail

  • Seaweed Salad with citrus dressing

  • The Fried Chicken On The Roll was definitely my favourite dish of the evening something similar to gimbap

  • The Spring Onion Fried Chicken was a drier version of one of my favourite dishes at OTB

  • The Korimari came with a tender well marinated side of bulgogi beef and vegetables

  • The simplistic way of eating this is definitely one for Summer

  • Refreshing salads were thoughtful sides to the mains

  • Potato Salad was a little bland

  • The Seaweed Salad was the better of the two though

  • With a tangy citrus dressing that paired well with the stringy vegetable

  • I think they'd be pretty good if you were drinking more than you were eating

  • Course when you love a restaurant so much there is always the chance that you may not enjoy a new menu

  • On The Bab is one of my favourite restaurants in London

  • My views and words are my own I truly love this food

  • Korean cuisine is something of a comfort food for me I'm not sure why exactly

  • So that probably has something to do with it as well

  • Having visited the original On The Bab on Old Street on its opening night I was keen to visit its new Covent Garden site which opened last month

  • On The Bab serves modern Korean dishes along with a mix of classic dishes in a modern open kitchen environment with K Pop tunes providing a chilled out backdrop

  • Their first branch is near Old Street station which is somewhere that I do not go often

  • So when I heard they were opening a new branch at Covent Garden I knew I had to go

  • Korean Muffin with Quail Egg and Bacon Bulgogi Beef Noodle Salad Yangyum Fried Chicken in Sweet Spicy Sauce OTB serves Korean street food along with few classics dishes

  • We started of with a nibble of Korean take on a muffin

  • Similar to a waffle but with a filling inside

  • Crispy outside and a soft centre with the yolk oozing out

  • Very moreish with the sweet tangy sauce

  • My wish is only if there was more of it

  • The broth is light with a slight tang to it which made the whole dish refreshing with tender pieces of beef and the noodles has a bouncy texture

  • The Yangyum Chicken were my favourites

  • More the Sweet Spicy than the Garlic Mayo but it was something different

  • The Korean Style Burrito is essentially a kimbap

  • I still don't think that warrented them completely ignoring me for the 5 minutes I was stood waiting to ask for a table

  • We ordered chicken dumplings (they were seriously incredible)

  • I would go back (if there was no queue) because the food was good and well priced but the service left a lot to be desired

  • While On the Bab's food is hardly top notch or cheap

  • It was indeed very comforting with some lovely signature Korean tastes in its cooking

  • Not the best service in the world but that is to be expected in most Oriental fast food restaurants in London

  • Their yongnam chicken was awesome too

  • Senior and junior execs who are absolutely heaven sent for helping the rest of us get by

  • I think we've got some of the best in the batch and I am proud to be able to call them my colleagues

  • Chosen ground for play was On the Bab on Wellington Street

  • I've not really had much Korean food before so wasn't entirely sure what to expect but this cheap eat is a real winner in my book

  • You'll struggle to get anything as good for this kind of price in Covent Garden we were seriously impressed

  • The food itself is extremely flavorsome

  • We ordered two main dishes and a side to share and were delighted at what we ordered

  • The Korean paella in particular was delicious full of flavour and the egg was cooked to perfection

  • We'd been talking via Twitter for ages so it felt only right that we meet in 'real life' for some food and I quickly discovered we are basically like the same person

  • Stir fried bulgogi beef with rice noodle

  • 5.5 gbpsmall portion with sweet spicy sauce

  • On the Bab is a real gem in this area

  • I was meeting the lovely Lauren from Elle Bloggs (I mean with a name as wonderful as that I just knew I was in for a treat

  • Here at Yummy feed there is a serious love of everything Korean &ndash

  • I was ecstatic and I ventured down and walked the long 30 seconds to their Shoreditch branch and then again to their Covent Garden branch with the tall one and a couple of friends

  • The atmosphere is great they have great decor and the playlist they have seem to showcase the best of K Pop

  • The star of the show is the yangyum chicken

  • Our second favourite dish are the buns aka on the buns

  • A quick couple of snacks with my sis to keep us locked up til dinner

  • The bimbimbap with bulgogi beef was amazing and the spicy pork buns were to die

  • Try the plum juice with honey and lemon

  • Your drinks Plum Punch and Korean Plum Tea are a nice change to the usual soft drinks

  • On The Bab (Covent Garden) is always being recommended by friends and was all over social media

  • We ordered both the roll and bun with a small side

  • The orange sauce matches really well with the food and the fry chicken and beef goes well with the bun and roll

  • On The Bab is a Korean restaurant in central London

  • On The Bab is another one of those annoying restaurants

  • The bulgogi beef was so good it&rsquo

  • The people next to us were eating bbang &ndash

  • Steamed buns filled with meat (or mixed vegetables) and our waitress also recommended yangyum chicken &ndash

  • Korean style fried chicken in batter with crushed peanuts

  • The prawn bun was okay individually the ingredients were good especially the prawn but the bun overall was very dry

  • S Korean food scene was skewed towards the traditional

  • The authentic dingy little eateries on St Giles Street or if you were diehard enough

  • On the Bab rides this trend and is arguably one of the most successful

  • Kimchi had the right level of spice and kick and service was prompt and polite

  • We ordered the tteokbokki which unfortunately wasn't chewy enough (but the fish cake that came with it was really good)

  • Items we ordered were quite messy

  • On the Bab is a casual Korean eatery that houses multiple locations throughout London

  • I'm consistently impressed with the quality of food for the price point

  • This iteration is accompanied with fish cakes and various vegetables

  • The Gochujang is incredibly present and in your face

  • Mushroom Bun (8/10) The bun is lighter than most that I've come across

  • The mushroom is generously meaty and bursts with juices as you bite into it

  • The batter is light and crisp

  • Prawn Patty Bun (8/10) The contents of the prawn patty are prawn prawn prawn with little filler

  • The batter on the prawn patty is just thin enough to provide a textural contrast while also not eating like a grease bomb at all

  • The batter is again and importantly second to what it encompasses

  • On the bab is one of my favorite and most frequented casual eateries

  • It's a great place to go after the theatre as there are quite a few near by

  • On the Bab is a fool proof ticket

  • First time coming here and I was wondering pleasantly surprised how filling the Korean Fried Chicken was

  • We went for the 12 piece and that was pretty filling

  • Very busy on a Sunday afternoon staff not very efficient on Table management and were not as polite as they should with customers who had to wait every restaurant has its day

  • Back to the food kimchi was fantastic bibimbap very average and the beef buns were passé

  • Tbh I was a little disappointed with On The Bab (Covent Garden)

  • Rice rolls was falling apart

  • I was later told their fried chicken is really good

  • So maybe that is their true selling point
