  • So much in London is about style over substance

  • The restaurant is tiny with a metal stools at the bar and just a few tables

  • The interior of Duck Soup is incredibly pared down and basic but

  • The wine list is short but all are natural and biodynamic

  • The menu changes daily and the selection of seasonal European dishes is hand written on piece of paper for you and updated daily on their website / tumblr account

  • We started with a good hunk of sourdough

  • I often judge a place by the bread and it was deliciously chewy (in a good way) with a crispy crust

  • Mr Silver chose artichokes with lardo to start

  • The plate was very oily which was unnecessary with the lardo already present

  • The prawns were small and the skin was soft so I was told that I could eat them whole

  • The prawns were ok but slightly lacking in flavour despite the amount of garlic that was on there

  • Lamb chops with salmoriglio

  • Salmoriglio is a Southern Italian sauce made up of olive oil

  • Though the lamb was perfectly cooked

  • Chargrilled Sandsole with burnt lemon

  • We're often told we eat with our eyes and the food at Ducksoup wasn't particularly visually appealing

  • The food at Duck Soup was ok and reasonably priced

  • Soho has such a buzzing vibe about it the one area in London which is packed with bars

  • It's rather gentrified now than it was a few years back and is home to a lot of good restaurants

  • We walked past Barrafina which was busy as usual

  • Past Koya which is on my wish list to try out the udon noodles but again the queue was ridiculous

  • Our waiter was extremely nice and offered me another drink in exchange

  • After sampling another wine I decided to stick to beer with pink grenadine which instantly cheered me up

  • The waiter said all their wines were organic so perhaps I wasn't used to the taste or maybe it was just the one I tried

  • We started with Hanger Steak on toast with melted bone marrow butter which was delicious

  • Steak perfectly cooked with a nice pinkish red centre and the addition of the bone marrow butter took it to another level

  • The other dish we tried was a raw thinly sliced Jerusalem artichokes with roasted hazelnuts which my dinner companion really liked

  • We shared Gnudi with wild mushrooms which was a rather unusual dish

  • Gnudi is a type of dumpling made of ricotta cheese and flour and was quite nice

  • We also had 7 hour cooked lamb which was really good

  • Served up like a stew with melt in your mouth chunks of soft

  • The restaurant is tiny and run more like cafe

  • Wines by the glass are written on a white board

  • Is what they are aiming for with the exposed light bulbs strung along the ceiling and the vintage LP&rsquo

  • I wouldn't mind going again but if there was a queue I don&rsquo

  • T think I would have the patience to wait there are so many more other new restaurants that I want to try out in Soho

  • This week I went for my first lunch at Ducksoup with two friends

  • The concept of Ducksoup is the same as a tapas restaurant

  • Some dishes (Bar menu) are small portion and are ideal to share for starters

  • What I like about Ducksoup (Soho) is the decoration

  • Probably because all tables are near each other (it could something I wouldn't like if I was having a romantic dinner

  • I like the menu which was hand written (see picture below)

  • It's very cosy (yes small) but filled with the lovely sounds of an old record player it makes it a great spot for a romantic dinner for two

  • The food menu comes on a hand written piece of paper with an array of several wines on the board

  • The service was attentive and caring

  • Last night I ventured into Central London for some dinner with my brother and his wife

  • You should go check it out yourselves anyway as I think their menu is really original and utterly yummy

  • We started with a plate of capocollo

  • Tasted like it was seasoned with black pepper and juniper

  • What I first noticed was the beautiful playlist of music they have

  • Their wine and food list is quite limited but it's perfect for a 4 5pm wine and snack place on the days you feel like doing so

  • What we later discovered as well is that their menu changes almost daily

  • So 4 5 dishes a day is pretty good

  • What everyone MUST have here are the lamb sweetbreads (if they ever do them again

  • Perfectly balanced with yummy garlic oil and cherry tomatoes

  • Was some sort of gnocchi with beans and greens in olive oil

  • The best kind of meals are always the unexpected ones

  • Probably the best meal we've had after 3 years in London excellent food

  • Great service and not over priced either (both of which are pretty rare in this city too
