Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon (Mayfair)

• The relief of leaving the huddling masses of Piccadilly and entering the serene calm of the Diamond Jubilee Tea Room is unparalleled
• The tea set is beautiful and comes with a mini open sandwiches and cakes
• Fortnum and Masons is a historic typically British institution if one may say so
• Its famous for its Food Hall especially the delectable Preserves and umpteen variety of Teas and Coffees so marvellously packed that the containers are more valuable than the contents
• We took some friends to experience a typical English Tea at the newly furbished Diamond Jubilee Tea Room and it was indeed an experience having
• Decor and service is impeccable and the whole place transports you to an earlier
• Gentle conversation was the norm as against the railway platform cacaphony of the Fast food joints
• This was followed by Scones with Somerset clotted cream and strawberry/apricot/lemon/wild berry preserves abs
• The helpings are sumptous and the taste
• The ground floor is not only full of confectionary
• Fresh produce and most importantly the very best fine wines and champagnes
• On to the first floor is the adorable Parlour restaurant
• In 1926 the original small grocery store transformed into the glamorous department store that now stands at 181 Piccadilly with the inclusion of a restaurant serving afternoon tea
• Fortnum's top floor restaurant was refurbished and reopened by the Queen herself

• The tea salon really is the diamond jewel in the crown of the department store
• Bright and classic with touches the signature Fortnum's duck egg blue
• The latter starts with a more substantial savoury
• Diabetic and Gluten Free Afternoon Tea are all also offered
• Our two teas came with an identical sandwich selection
• The fillings were every bit as English as the Queen
• At Fortnum's there is a menu of over 80 teas so I opted to try a black tea infused with strawberry
• We bridged the gap from the lower tier to the upper tier of the selection with our scone course
• The left is lemon and dill with smoked salmon and cream cheese and the appealing green bun is pea and mint with Bayonne Ham
• Melanie's traditional twosome was served with clotted cream and Fortnum's own preserves
• The decadent savoury selection contained a leek and bacon tart and chicken liver foie gras shortbread with strawberry and rhubarb
• The third item was Oeufs Drumkilbo
• Melanie's selection was a beautifully delicate quintet of petite pastries
• Throughout the tea we were treated like royalty with excellent service and offers to replenish our plates with anything that we wanted
• When we finished our tea we were invited to make a selection from the Cake Carriage
• Melanie and I were full from our teas so we decided to bring home some treats for Mr Sunny and Mr Silver

• We have never charged extortionate prices and none of our teas do at all well with salt water
• The brand becomes a household name and is featured in the works of Charles Dickens and Henry James
• Fortnum and Mason is now the leader in tinned goods
• S largest Scotch egg is created in the Fortnum demonstration kitchen
• Also attending are the Duchess of Cornwall and Duchess of Cambridge
• They were scrumptious and came with a separate tiered dish just for the clotted cream and Fortnum&rsquo
• S afternoon tea had a Lemon and Dill Scone with Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese
• It had a Pea and Mint Scone with Bayonne Ham
• To say everything was delicious is an understatement
• The biggest surprise for me was being able to take a piece of cake home
• Drawing Room and Tea Tasting Room are available for private dining
• Fortnum and Mason is located just a short walk from either Green Park or Piccadilly Circus underground stations at 181 Piccadilly
• I really enjoyed my afternoon with Angie and at Fortnum and Mason
• My only complaint is that I found numerous people not dressed appropriately
• Everything you demand for an afternoon tea is amazingly satisfied here
• My Afternoon Tea escapade with a shoe loving friend we decided upon Fortnum and Mason and I was extremely impressed with their free from menus which included gluten free
• Both of our afternoon teas were served on separate cake stands (1 x gluten free and 1 x normal) and this was a lovely surprise as often the gluten free afternoon tea is bought over on plates
• The gluten free sandwiches had the same fillings as the classic Afternoon Tea and the bread was lovely and soft
• The fillings were the standard including Cucumber with Mint Butter
• Roast Beef with Gherkin and Caper Dressing
• Egg with Mustard and Cress and Salmon with Dill Butter
• The gluten free scones passed my scone test and were very tasty
• The gluten free pastries are always my favourite part of the afternoon tea experience and this is where the pastry chefs go wild and can create master pieces
• The tea salon is stunning and is a lovely establishment to meet up for a cup of tea an a spot of cake
• Silver service afternoon tea combines the prim execution of English elegance paired perfectly with American indulgence
• Whilst stuffing yourself to the gills with delicate sandwiches
• Rare roast beef with Café
• Horseradish cream and rare breed hen egg with mustard cress
• We slathered freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam
• The little pink eclair was flavoured with rose
• The snowball looking thing was a yoghurt flavoured gel consistency hiding a cherry centre on top of pistachio cake
• The profiterole sandwiched a lime coconut cream and the macaron was a rich raspberry
• D have to say the chocolate lemon was surprisingly my favourite of the bunch
• This truly was an afternoon of indulgence
• S Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon is a beautiful venue and the perfect place to experience afternoon tea
• The menu prices here are a little dear but for the high levels of excellence shown throughout

• The business' connection with tea materialised due to its strong relationship with the British East India Company in the 1700s
• The accompanying sound of a piano playing worked to confirm that this was the ideal setting for a lazy Sunday afternoon tea
• Replaces the sweet elements with canape style treats and savoury scones
• A blended tea with a hint of orange blossom
• Both types of tea were incredible
• Without exaggeration and with the admission that I'm a total eggs Benedict snob
• This was the very best eggs Benedict I've ever tasted
• Each morsel was more delectable and tasty than the last
• The berry and pistachio cheesecake was my favourite sweet item of the day
• Mason tea experience is that they cater for all sorts of food allergies and intolerances
• In a state that can only be described as full to the brim with a side of possible sugar induced coma
• When we found out that we were also entitled to a slice of cake from the salon's carriage
• I also knew that I had just experienced high tea with a company that's a pivotal figure in the history of tea in the UK
• The room was light and airy and the decor was outstanding
• There was a relaxed atmosphere with a pianist playing throughout
• The food was delicious with constant refills of the sandwiches
• The service was also very attentive
• 40 per person it was good value for money and you will not leave hungry or disappointed
• This wasn't my first visit to the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon but I was a bit disappointed by the service this time around
• I hate to be rushed but the amount of time that the waiters and waitresses were taking to take our order was silly and they were very difficult to get hold of in order to ask for a refill of tea
• The ambience is amazing with the peaceful piano playing and tasteful decor and It's great to come here as a special treat but be prepared for the prices
• All you have to do is ask so don't be afraid of looking greedy

• Service was curt and professional however it was strange we had a different treatment that the next table had

• I conquered a 29 course tasting in Peru with barely a burp
• I ate ice cream before dinner and followed with three desserts
