Club 49 (Soho)

• It recalls a time in my life where Thursday nights were Soho nights
• Greek Street is all about the lurking promoters and 2for1 deals (scams)
• The hostess at the door has always been the best part of the night she elicits hope and money with the promise of class and nice champagne
• Everyone from the bouncers to the bartenders are chatty and sociable
• We had the VIP area with about 40 of us all together
• I am definitely the kind of person who feels it's the people you are with who make a night and not the place you are
• This being said it is nice to have a night in a good venue
• I'm not one to name names but one that stands out is on the road across
• 5 reduced entry got us in the door but this was a mistake I wasn't going to repeat
• So although the entry cost to Club 49 did seem quite steep at a tenner it guess it is around the norm these days and we duly accepted
• Didn't have to wait to long to be served at the bar which is a plus and the music kept us going through the night
• I stumbled upon the club a couple weeks ago has a good vibe and the interior is pretty slick
• The interior was much nicer than it looked from the outside
• I went during happy hour and the prices were reasonable for London standards and the drinks were good
• Offers drinks at very good prices with cocktails at 5.50
• If there's anything to fault is that the staff were quick to take drinks away
• Whenever the noise level goes above 80dB I can barely partake in conversation unless my discourse partner is basically on my lap (a stripper I once met had an impressive knowledge of French philosophy
• My idea of a great night is at home with a cheap glass of wine playing Taboo with friends and showing off my slightly above average trivia knowledge (again
• The cocktails were tasty (I tried my friends' as well) and the service was good
• Pretty standard nothing special but when the bill came I was quite shocked at the price and asked the lady who had served me why they were charging so much
• You go downstairs to the dance floor and of course are in good company it isn't so bad
• Went there on a Friday night with some of my friends
• Dont really remember much after that but my friends told me that it was a hell of a night
• I must say the manager knew his stuff from drinks to how you could use the venue for private events which once you have been here you are sure to inquire about
• The drinks were amazing and have a vast array from the subtle (always the deadliest) to strong cocktails
• Some drinks are overpriced but in London you kinda expect it nonetheless
• With a basement dance floor that is small and compact which with the right music and right people makes for a good time
• They allowed for last minute changes to the guestlist which was great food is good too
• The capacity is accurate if people are seated and standing but got quite full and we had to have stools removed to make it comfortable
• The private bar in the vip is useful too
• Some drinks were unable to be made at the bar which meant waiters having to go to another bar to have the drinks made
• The service was fine and the music is really really good a great atmosphere (although can get hot)
• The only downside was the 2 hours went very quickly (especially with a little delay getting starting)
• Luckily we were the last table so we could have another 15 minutes to finish our last cocktail
