The City Cafe (Old Town)

• The drinks selection could do with a bit of updating
• New draught beers should be sought as the current selection is not one to lure you in on it's own
• Relying on bottle sales mostly to drive their ales and craft beer is not the way bars should be heading
• Especially as the revival of ale is well and truly riding high
• The variety of burgers ensures that there is enough selection to satisfy diners and the burgers can even be requested to be cooked from rare to well done
• People that are infatuated with old school America
• The place is really cool with an american style
• I had a full breakfast which was very good and with a great value for money that is always a bonus
• I've been here for a burger too and it was simple But delicious
• I went here with some friends from London
• I missed the days of coke floats so I was in my element
• I love how city cafe is themed as an American diner
• Both yum and the nachos were a very generous portion
• At night for drinks I thought there was a good atmosphere for a Tuesday night
• I went to The City Cafe for dinner with friends couple weeks ago
• It was during the week and we didn't book a table but there was plenty of space to sit down
• I ordered it as a side dish so I was really happy with it
• My friends had the burgers and they said they were good but not anything special
• The service was good enough but again not something to write about
• I was surprised there is a big space under the main restaurant and I saw a poster that they do parties there
• The City Cafe very much goes for that theme with their retro jukebox
• I do think the fry ups are pretty good though and the small size is a decent portion
• So if you want a booth it is better to get in early
• My family actually used it for a charity night a few years back and the staff were great helping us out with that
• Friendly staff and the space is big enough
• The atmosphere is relaxed and fun and they always have good music playing too
• The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the food and can offer great recommendations on drinks too
• Some of the best nachos I have had in a while
• The loaded fries were really good too
• The mixed meat platter was average I would say
• It's just that the sliders were so dry and there wasn't Andy garnish on them either
• Everything else was cooked really well
• Their all day breakfast set menu is obviously the delicacies of Scotland Haggis and Tattis
• The breakfast plate is pretty big and more than enough for one person
• The staff is nice and polite and the location is full of Americans souvenirs
