  • In my opinion it is most spectacular in its Brit Tapas

  • Abbeville road runs parallel to the East side of Clapham common and is home to an abundance of cafes

  • M sure was coined by estate agents rather than locals) but with its upmarket butchers and bakers

  • T get off to the best of starts unfortunately

  • It was about midday when we arrived and the restaurant was about a quarter full

  • After a bit of umming and erring we were offered a seat at the bar

  • M sure some of the tables were reserved for lunch

  • Another nice little touch and in keeping with the idea of a &lsquo

  • Restaurant is the 25 little drawers above the bar

  • So you can have some whenever you pop in (much more useful if you are coming for dinner rather than breakfast)

  • The coffee and Orange juice were both great

  • The latter served in a half pint dimple glass (very British) with a slice of blood orange

  • In an incredibly hot frying pan were two chipolata sausages wrapped in bacon

  • The presentation was certainly different but it made it bit tricky to eat

  • One because you are very aware of not touching the sides and being scolded and two because it kept the food extremely hot to the point that the tomato and black pudding were too hot to enjoy

  • It continues to cook which is a real shame

  • Outside of the frying pan the homemade baked beans were great and the fresh bread toast was good too

  • My parents and I were mightily impressed by a recent meal at Adam Byatt's Trinity in Clapham Old Town (still dreaming of 14 year fermented sourdough

  • Ginger Pig are just some of the delights this tiny stretch of road has to offer

  • Bistro Union is my favourite stop so far

  • Though there was nothing down sized about our Broccoli &

  • 4) or the Salt Cod Fritters with Aioli (£

  • Keeping pace with those excellent little plates was Gem

  • You could just stick to this menu if you were after a speedy lunch as there's so much variety (including a small dessert option)

  • We skipped past the starters (which are in danger of being overlooked)

  • Nostalgic comfort food is the order of the day here with mac'n'cheese

  • 16) whilst I wolfed down a Salt Beef Hash with Fried Egg and Pickled Cucumbers (£

  • I chose well with Banana Custard (£

  • No fuss it was a fabulous filling lunch that didn't break the bank

  • The weekend brunch is apparently pretty special

  • I also like the sound of private booze lockers behind the bar once your alcohol is stored away

  • You can make use of it with free mixers whenever you rock up

  • The restaurant is quite small and busy providing it with a good atmosphere without feeling overcrowded

  • Bistro Union was a really good example of 'modern British' cooking

  • It wasn't like pub grub but then the classics also hadn't been messed with so much that they're unrecognisable

  • Every dish was a really good up to date and fresh example of good British classics

  • One of the stand out points of the evening was the service

  • The dishes are simple and let the ingredients speak for themselves

  • We started with brown shrimp

  • The cooking of the potatoes was good and they added bulk to the dish

  • 44 for two to share) which came with Bearnaise sauce and thick cut chips

  • As you can see from the photograph below this was an impressive piece of meat (easily over a kilo)

  • The rib had been cooked on the bone so the meat was very moist

  • The cooking was consistently medium rare across the whole rib

  • The quality of the beef was very good and I think on par with my recent steak at Hawksmoor &ndash

  • My only gripe was that we would have liked a few more chips to complement our hunk of meat

  • This Bistro was created by Adam Byatt and the team behind The Trinity

  • Ve read Bistro Union seems to be the laid back relation in atmosphere and price whilst the quality and seasonality of ingredients are values they both share

  • Satisfaction or else) i sat at a table near the windows at Bistro Union (Clapham) and the careless staff having left a long wooden stick in metres with a metal hook fell from the wall across next to our table

  • Was aware that was dangerous"

  • When a customer's life was jn danger due to his careless moves

  • Genuine care for human life is even more rare

  • Do not help people that are running after your wallet

  • My next stop along Abbeville Road was Sunday brunch at Bistro Union

  • Bistro Union was created by Adam Byatt and the team behind The Trinity

  • Laid back atmosphere and was buzzing with locals

  • Coffee was beautiful which is a rarity in London

  • Only thing is the price £

  • 22 per person for brunch is a bit steep considering the portion sizes

  • The service was friendly and helpful
