The Bayou Soul (Camden Town)

• The smoked tasso (pork) lacked flavor and was poorly presented
• The Bayou grill was a bit of a let down aswell
• The service was very attentive
• Inverness Street in Camden is home to The Bayou
• We started with some cocktails (on happy hour before 7pm) from their standalone bar
• Maple Old Fashioned went down very easily and was slightly more successful than an Espresso twist on a Pisco Sour which was an acquired taste
• Hard shakes are also available though you may want to wait til dessert for those
• He returned a few minutes later with BBQ Shrimps &
• Fried Calamari with Hush Puppies
• The shrimp (or king prawns) were smothered in a tasty sauce of white wine
• Delicious batter was served with spring onions
• Just as the moreish meat was falling off the bone and in to my face
• Opting for a Banana Pie with Almond Biscotti
• Both plates were rather photogenic
• 50 (for two) of hard earned cash for what was probably the worst food I&rsquo
• Creole cuisine is a style of cooking originating in Louisiana (USA) which blends French
• The meat pies were like beef empinadas and were actually quite tasty
• The madeleine was a baked dish of mushy spinach and cheese with little flavour and some burnt oversized croutons on the side
• Was served so hot that the roof of my mouth is still suffering as I write this
• Main course I had a chicken and vegetable gumbo (slow cooked Louisiana style casserole served with dirty rice
• Is rice cooked with green peppers
• All i can say is to save your money and avoid The Bayou Soul (Camden Town)
• I'm eating around the world without leaving London and since the USA is such a vast country
• Bayou Soul is a homey looking American style diner
• Away from the tourist trap that is the Camden Market area
• So even when we were there on a Saturday
