Whiski Rooms (Old Town)

• Everything on the menu was in the bar
• Offers a tasting (25ml) of 4 different types of whiskies with similar tones
• Loved my cullen skink the first time I was trying it (smoked haddock soup) creamy and gorgeous
• The seabass was the star of the evening
• Beautifully cooked and combined with chorizo and potatoes
• The first time I was having pork and fish in the same dish
• The veal shin was also wonderful
• The choice was different and traditional Scottish and we loved our experience
• Drinks wise there is a fantastic selection
• The standard whiskies are not value for money and priced quite high
• So go for something a bit more adventurous as the pricing is much more value for money
• We didn't adventure into the whiskey side but the wine was lovely and the selection of beers was great
• We will be going back with a group to try the whiskey very soon
• Due to the fact that the closest operating distillery is an hour away from Edinburgh and I visited already in 2003
• We had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked
• I recently went for a catch up dinner with my pal Janet
• Other times not) were some more modern slants hidden amongst the &lsquo
• Plum sauce was brightened with a slightly fiery kick
• The crispy leeks were an excellent touch because they added texture to the dish
• I felt that the Ardberg sauce was lacking in flavour
• Unfortunately the mood of the group was that we were moving on to a different location for an after dinner drink
• Hence on very first day we headed for our dinner there and yes we were not disappointed
• Overall it was good experience
• The only drawback we had was that the person that served us initally made it obvious that our lateness was causing an inconvenience
• The restaurant was very attractive and we will definitely consider coming back again
