Southern Cross Cafe (Old Town)

• So crossed their threshold with a confident stride
• Was entirely welcome as it was rather chilly outside
• Crisp pieces of beetroot with fresh salad leaves
• Again this was a relatively minor quibble with what was a very tasty dish
• I rounded things out with a very good espresso
• I was impressed with the warmth of welcome and quality of dishes on offer at the Southern Cross Café
• Not knowing what we were getting ourselves into
• It all looked so promising with a small outside seated section and a narrow Georgian front with pastries decorating the front window
• A The ambience is cosy and cute
• The pastries are fresh and the cappuccino was really good
• All this is managed by two young girls and they are good at What they are doing
• In keeping with the changeable Edinburgh weather
• My expectations were very rapidly rained upon
