The Cellar Door (Old Town)

• I booked in advance as it was festival time and a good job I did as many people were turned away
• The staff were pleasant and talkative but overall the service was a bit sluggish
• Whilst the presentation was good the contents didn't live up to the image they presented
• Creative dishes that are well executed with informed attentive service
• A lovely bright room with giant windows
• We walked downstairs with minimal expectations for what looked (at street level) to be an empty restaurant
• Downstairs was a little gem genuine warm welcome
• I chose the North Atlantic haddock with chips( fries to Americans) and Jim had a traditional roasted pork loin dinner
• Both meals were thoroughly delicious with generous portions to satisfy hearty appetites
• What will gladly bring us back to The Cellar Door is the feeling that we have made friends in Scotland
• The staff were excellent and I was encouraged to try Hake for the 1st time
