The Wilmington Arms (Clerkenwell)

• Went here for dinner with Huawei South Africa
• I'm told means food is more fancier than regular pub food
• I was definitely impressed with the plating
• My main was a fish cake with garlic mash (which I asked for instead of cabbage) on lobster biqsue
• Were surprised to find a pub which was relatively empty
• Since all the other places we passed by were filled to overflowing
• I assume this is because of the proximity to Exmouth Market with an ample choice of fine eating establishments
• It looked like a nice place to begin the afternoon or evening with a glass of wine before heading to the market for a meal
• A really nice gastropub with a varied menu and good list of specials
• Portion size could have been bigger for the fish mains and the cocktails were a little steep on price but other than this I'd definitely return to eat and test the desserts
• What better way to extend that weekend feeling than with a pub lunch
