The Wellington (Waterloo)

• Staff was efficient and we were served our drinks promptly at the bar
• The pub is usually packed and quite noisy but it is sometimes possible to find a corner table and enjoy a long conversation
• The room I stayed in was very basic for 95 notes
• The decoration and facilites in the rooms are at the low end compared to the beer
• Peak times of the day The Wellington is packed with commuters awaiting their next departure
• Sitting directly opposite Waterloo station it is the ideal place for a drink out of station grounds
• The drinks and prices are what is expected for a chain bar/restaurant
• Classic pub with a long history
• The pub is named after the Duke of Wellington and the interior pays homage like a museum with paintings and art throughout
• I ordered what turned out to be the messiest of burgers that was falling apart (definitely not something you would want to eat if you were on a date
• The food is decent but there are better Fullers pubs throughout London
• If you're hungry or looking to grab a drink with a larger group around Waterloo
• One of the specials on the menu which came with a fried egg and cold pasta and I was very happy with my order
• Not because I was hungry but because I was really enjoying it
• On a Monday night the pub is not too crowded so you'll be able to find a seat easily
• I will probably go back to try more of the food and see what the pub is like during the day too
• It has high curved ceilings with murals painted depicting the war
• Unfortunately the staff is not very vocal and you have to guess
