Talbot (Dalston)

• It being Sunday a roast was on the menu with all the trimmings
• Another for the pasta and went for the fish of the day myself along with starters all round too
• Starters I had a last minute change of mind and went for the quail's breast with black pudding instead of the mackeral served in an umami broth with enoki and hijiki
• As the mackeral had quite a Japanese influence so hard to combine with any of the other mains on offer and my fish of the day was hake cooked in turmeric with bombay potatoes
• This usually sets off alarm bells in my head as I get a tad concerned about the execution of fusion dishes considering the rest of the menu is a bit more traditional
• The gamble however paid off as the combination of different flavours and spices were well balanced
• They were very satisfied with them and the pasta option of papardelle with maple soaked endive and pecorino was also a winner
• The staff were very friendly and helpful with suggestions
• A terrific pub with great atmosphere and service to boot
• Two cute roodtops and two large rooms with great design
• Stop by and have a good time with your friends
