First things first wow Satay (Brixton) is still here
-
The restaurant itself is dark and moody but spacious and upon entering we were quickly seated
-
Despite the time there was a healthy number of people and the atmosphere whilst slightly raucous was lively and fun
-
Is not particularly adventurous but is a good barometer to judge a Thai restaurant
-
They got it just right as it was perfectly spiced and I could really taste the fresh lemon grass and the merest hint of sweet basil I loved it
-
I wasn't expecting much from dessert but again Satay Bar came through as the cheesecake was delicious although I struggled to identify what was Asian about the compote
-
My decidedly low expectations were comprehensibly exceeded and I wouldn't hesitate in going back
-
The Satay is a popular bar amongst locals and is rarely ever empty
-
On my recent visit to the Satay I dined with a few old friends and enjoyed a three course meal
-
Starter I had the calamari chilli wings' which were well flavoured with honey and lime
-
I rounded the meal up with sticky toffee pudding for dessert and again it was delicious
-
There is a lot of space indoors which is welcoming for a large party
-
My food picks here are the Ninja Chicken Satay Sticks
-
Shallots and spring onions marinated in delicious Yakitori sauce and the Chicken Katsu Curry served with fluffy Jasmine Rice
-
The sweet Potato Wedges here are pretty good too
-
When I got to this restaurant I was surprised as I've lived in Malaysia for the past 5 years and could only see 3 Malaysian dishes on the menu
-
Apart from the prices being 7 times higher than there are in Malaysia
-
Only Chinese restaurants in Malaysia do unless they are touristy places
-
Who literally was doing it all
-
A vibrant vibe and filled with youngsters
-
The outside seating is great for a drink too
-
I must say it is difficult to get service as waiters are running around
-
Food was FANTASTIC I had chicken katsu with wok fried noodles and my mate had Mr Wang's crispy beef strips with sweet potato fries
-
The atmosphere was very busy but also very noisey
-
The starter of vegetarian spring rolls was cold in the middle and then we waited over 45 minutes for noodles and a salad whilst others were served around us
-
The oriental salad was drenched in peanut stay sauce with a few tofu pieces and beansprouts but the kway teow was good
-
Ordered Thai green curry with steamed rice
-
The service was good and fast
-
The music was loud and there was just too much noise
