Salt & Honey Bistro (Paddington)

• Because the sheer amount of new openings was simply more than I could physically keep up with
• The first appearance is of a friendly bistrot
• The place was full at 9 (always a good sign) and we were taken to the back of the restaurant underneath the mezzanine
• I was a bit disappointed as it felt a bit claustrophobic with the low ceiling and no windows
• We sat down and order were swiftly taken off a every eclectic and (very) appetising menu
• Cured Beef with buratta (simple but soooooo effective when the products are top class) and a parmesan and bacon Broth
• It s packed with flavours and its cheap
• By this time I was close to heaven but unfortunately we were like lobsters in a hot water pot
• The back of the restaurant was getting very hot and my wine (a beautiful Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was starting to bubble in the glass
• Mains arrived (together with some ice for my water)
• Not the wisest choice when one is already in need of a cold shower
• That bolognaise was just off the charts
• The pork belly was tender and crisp on the outside as you would expect
• If I was being difficult I 'd say it lacked a bit of seasoning (or maybe it was because the bolognaise was so good
• The desert menu is simple but very effective
• I had a brief chat with Tyler and congratulated him because I thoroughly enjoyed eating there (despite feeling like he had roasted me in the oven downstairs)
• My only neg is the wine was suffering from being stored at back of restaurant where soaring temperature killed it
• One of the best dinners we have had on our trip
• Had the steak and was well cooked
• Entree of salmon was good and also tried the tuna
