  • The view alone is something else

  • Coming up here is the perfect escape form the manic market below

  • As soon as you step into the elevator you are transported into another world of calm relaxation

  • The breakfast was what I had and it set up up for the day

  • Otherwise the cocktails in the evening with the summer sun is sublime

  • My first visit to Roast was just a few days after it opened and I enjoyed the experience

  • A later visit for Sunday lunch was disappointing

  • As the food was very ordinary

  • Rather one that you might just go to if you were in the area and wanted to escape the hustle and bustle of the market

  • One of my all time favourite London foodie haunts and with a smattering of top notch drinking holes too

  • Even at 1015 on a Saturday morning the restaurant was heaving and resounding with the sound of diner chatter and clatter

  • After scanning the extensive brunch menu we kicked off with some of their new signature Bloody Marys

  • To accompany a starter of smoked kippers was a Bloody Smoked

  • Sure as heck inhaled that one like it was a mere cheroot

  • The kipper was really packed with flavour and as luck would have it

  • One being a duck egg with squid and chorizo

  • The other smoked haddock cooked with tomato sauce and an egg in a skillet &ndash

  • Our waiter genially whisked it away and replaced it with our second choice &ndash

  • All hail Caesar is all I can say

  • Clamato juice replaces tomato and the silky finish is light on the palette

  • The other let down is the place you can't hear your self think its way loud

  • The decor is nice venue is impressive in Borough Market

  • Instead I would rather queue up for their lunch sandwiches outside which are value for money

  • Serving up British food with produce from the handily located market below

  • Roast (London Bridge) is one for special occasions or those who have slightly bigger wallets than us

  • The atmosphere is relaxed and as the majority of the clientele is suited (jackets and ties) we felt we stood out a bit

  • Our sommelier was so smiley and friendly she should work in PR (not that she&rsquo

  • The interior of the room is vast and airy

  • White linen tablecloths and absolutely full to the brim with smart suits

  • The kidneys were well cooked

  • Slightly pink in the middle but it took me a full 2 minutes to realise that there was no toast coming

  • T think I would have gone again if I was paying myself

  • Is probably all you need to read if you are sensitive to feeling ripped off (though this may be a little harsh

  • The setting here is a work dinner

  • This brings us on to the waiting staff this is a peeve of mine here

  • The attitude is a bit aloof

  • Topping up your water with a hand behind the back

  • This may be an issue with being in a big group though

  • The selection is very respectable

  • One of my compatriots went for the Shaved Bath Chaps with soft boiled quail eggs

  • S the thing these are very good ingredients

  • The price of which is also an enigma to me)

  • Made somewhat less impressive by the fact that the first edition of the dessert I received was undercooked and partially attached to some parchment paper (very chewy

  • Borough Market is an iconic part of London with a history spanning back many a year and made famous primarily for its variety of fresh produce whether it be dairy

  • Lunch and dinner so I would like to think when I say that the food is consistently good

  • I don't think I've ever had a bad meal there and have always left quite satisfied with the quality of the meal

  • They don't offer a lunch menu so you do end up with a pricier lunch than your usual

  • The best value meal for me is probably breakfast where I would always suggest going for the Full English because it is very full indeed

  • That in itself is quite novel and provides a few nice photo ops

  • The food there is very nice and you will leave happy (if not a bit poorer)

  • Around Borough Market however (and for this piece I exclude the Shard which is a whole other story)

  • Roast Restaurant in Borough Market is a London institution

  • The restaurant is located in the market&rsquo

  • Not forgetting some of the front of house staff were wearing headsets

  • As the atmosphere was actually very jolly and celebratory

  • The crowd at Roast appeared to be long time Londoners (many of them families and groups of friends) who have probably been visiting for years and there was certainly a lively

  • I started with the Seared Isle of Mull hand dived scallops with cream potato and garlic butter (£

  • Succulent scallops were perfectly golden brown on the outside and had a tender centre

  • Buttery creamed potato and herby garlic butter were simple yet ever so tasty

  • T help feeling that the high price for this starter may be more palatable if the scallops were served with more complex ingredients than the humble potato

  • Steven tried the Gin cured Loch Duart salmon with pickled cucumber (£

  • Zingy aromas of gin and was served with slices of juicy dill pickle

  • I tried the Roast Ripley Castle red leg partridge with creamed Brussels sprouts

  • The beautifully roasted partridge was cut into four section

  • My favourite was the lean and tasty breast portion

  • The partridge was served with lovely creamed Brussels sprouts

  • Only half of the sprouts were creamed while the others were simply steamed

  • Slow roasted pork belly with mashed potatoes and Bramley apple sauce (£

  • Well seasoned pork just melted in the mouth and was cooked with lots of fresh sage

  • The exemplary crackling was thick and crunchy &ndash

  • It was served with a small mound of whipped

  • T resist the Chocolate mousse cake with caramelised orange and Cornish clotted cream (£

  • The incredibly decadent cake had a moist fondant style base and was baked with a layer of velvety

  • The stewed fruit was juicy and delicious while the thick layer of crumble was sweet

  • Creamy custard was studded with tiny vanilla seeds and finished off the dish perfectly

  • Roast Restaurant is a great choice for a special night out with friends and family

  • As the food and service are excellent and there are plenty of crowd pleasing dishes

  • S worth noting that many guests were enjoying Roast&rsquo

  • It's based in a perfect location with views of St

  • The service was very attentive and polite

  • We had several questions about the menu and the waiter was knowledgeable enough to help us out

  • The dining area was very well lit

  • Each dish is done stylishly and in keeping with the restaurants layout

  • Roast feels fairly expensive and is not somewhere I would visit on regular occasion

  • A great atmosphere with live acoustic music

  • Unfortunately at busy times service is a let down

  • The restaurant is located within the market itself on the first floor (accessed by stairs or lift) so you can look down onto the market in action as you eat if you have a window table

  • S quite upmarket with prices to match

  • My friend went for the Eggs Royale with Loch Etive smoked trout

  • We both really enjoyed our breakfasts which were perfectly cooked and very tasty

  • Start with the good bits service was great and the room is very atmospheric

  • We had oysters and English sparkling wine to start which were both delicious

  • Shared the kale salad starter which was very light although could have used a bit of acidity in the dressing

  • The sauce and sides were incredibly salty

  • Best way to sum it up is that I would never come here again and suggest you don't bother either

  • London is an amazing city and Roast aims to showcase the best of British food for all

  • From the location to the food delivered you get the sense that it is very people orientated from the producers and farmers to the way the staff greet you early on a Saturday morning

  • Sundays for me now consist of curries or Thai or hungover Dominos but you can't beat a nice big roast with all the trimmings

  • Walking through the bar area and past the kitchen we are led to our table next to one of the windows

  • Can't beat my mom's made one but definitely one of the best ones after that

  • Was looking for a breakfast place to dine in inside Borough Market on a weekday and this is one of the places I found

  • I ordered the full English Breakfast with Toast on the side and a Latte

  • The sausages were yummy and the mushroom was cooked just right

  • I just wish my butter for my toast was a bit softer or melted because I had to eat chunks of butter on my toast

  • The Chateaubriand was ordered for the whole table as the main dish

  • Some of the tables are very close together

  • I have been familiar with Roast for ages

  • Roast was opened by restaurant entrepreneur Iqbal Wahhab in 2005 to bring the best of British food back on the plate

  • So I followed up with another breakfast recently for their Big Breakfast charity morning (Roast support a number of charities with events and fundraising)

  • I came over for an evening meal with a bunch of fellow bloggers

  • The bar area is what you see first and is separated by a separator with an open top

  • A bit more akin to casual/informal dining and the noise levels are just low enough to not interrupt your conversation but be ready to speak up

  • The pork belly was a perfectly cooked roulade style complemented by an amazing sauce

  • T really on my list but this time the occasion was the quarterly company lunch

  • The bar side was quite busy when we arrived at 2pm &ndash

  • The bar stools were all filled and the tables were filled with diners

  • It's ambience OMG oh my god superb superb se bi upper we find too many dishes that are superb from there menu I m big fan of them

  • The pork belly may have been the best I've had it melted in the mouth and was very nicely seasoned

  • The table service was excellent and the waiters were very attentive

  • The building was also lovely
