Restaurant - Butlers Wharf Chop House (Bermondsey)

• Fantastic location and staff that are really quick and helpful
• My friends who were visiting from Milan loved it
• Had a casual lunch with some friends in Butlers Wharf Chop House
• As the sky was dark with rain
• The Heritage Tomato salad was also delicious
• The onions were very sweet and the combinations just worked
• Praline and Vanilla ice cream was well received
• Even if it was difficult to eat from the glass bowl
• The service was also very good
• The only time we had any issue was when we came to pay the bill and found the bar area empty of staff
• Who knew you could get both brilliant value and pleasing food with one of the best views in London&hellip
• As a treat my work colleagues and I would take advantage of their bar menu which was a bargain then and still is now
• The main reason for our visit was to check our their English Summer garden
• I left Ade at home and went along with three girlfriends
• D peer round the table out the window to remind ourselves of where we were and the view we were missing
• The more formal restaurant side is a bit more expensive
• Round tables with white tablecloths and lots and lots of suits
• The staff were friendly and patient with our nattering
• I think we were a novelty for our waiter amongst the mostly male clientele
• We kicked things off with a cocktail each from the extensive menu

• 6.25 that Al and I both had was plentiful with prawns
• A light sauce that lacked a bit of tang for me but the bonus was the hidden prawns at the bottom of the glass where we thought we&rsquo
• S Potted shrimps with toast £
• 8.50 came in a Kilner jar and served with thickly sliced toast
• It was a tad on the tough side and I could have done with some more gravy
• The little pork scratching skewer was a nice touch and the chunky apple sauce was perfect
• Sue was overloaded with her Spatchcock spring chicken &
• All washed down with a bottle of 2011 Merlot
• The biscuit was perfectly light and crumbly
• The service was second to none and the location is fantastic
• S Wharf Chop House has a prime spot for this and the food is just as perfect as the view

• All presented in a wicker basket with gingham tablecloth
• Very tasty but I thought the chicken stock (shop bought stock cubes is my guess) was slightly too overpowering
• Deep fried whitebait with mayonnaise &ndash
• The whitebait was fried in a lightly spiced batter
• It was however served with a delicious tartare sauce
• Salmon fishcake with devilled mayonnaise &ndash
• The fishcakes were slightly dry and the salad looks like a slapdash work
• The crab meat in the mayonnaise was ace and I wish there were slightly more of it
• Fortunately it was not over done
• The crisps that were served with it were so oily and over salted as to be almost up there in the cholesterol league with deep fried mars bars
• It also gave the impression that it was a cheap bag from the supermarket
• Sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream
• Heated terrace with unparalleled views of Tower Bridge and the City
• Tried Set Menu and had Chicken Livers with red onion chutney and for main course had Fillets of sea bream and both was good
