The Orange Tree (Richmond Upon Thames)

• I lunched here with two friends not long ago
• There was a big match on at Twickenham we were attending and
• To say it was packed is an understatement
• Perhaps because it was a match day they were turning over many more covers than usual and a canteen mentality had developed with food slopped carelessly onto plates and in meagre portions
• Our friend was running late and because of the impending game
• Our waitress was attentive and friendly
• While my friend opted for the fish cakes and steak and ale pie with mash and gravy
• When they did a different waitress plonked them down and was off before we had time to react
• By this time our other friend had arrived and had just enough time to order some London bangers and mash with red onion gravy
• The Orange Tree seems like a pretty nice pub and is obvioulsy very popular to drink at
• The Orange Tree is a 5 minute walk from the station
• Booking in advance is always best
• I found it difficult to shake the feeling that my wallet was emptying rather quickly
• Was surprising given that my party were some of the only people in there at the time (early afternoon)
