The Old Salt Quay (Rotherhithe)

• My girlfriend's macaroni was small and insipid with too much salt
• Garlic bread was rolled and flat
• The service is pretty relaxed and the food is reasonable
• 10 for a smallish main is fine in Central London but this is a very residential area and the food isn't that great that you don't leave feeling like you've overpaid
• They do specials with 2 for £
• 11.95 but unfortunately we hadn't seen the menu for this on our table and placed the order before we saw it which is a bit of a shame
• The buffet was stupendous and the staff were magnificent
• It is a fairly large place with seating outside (in summers of course)
• The sunday roast is very famous locally and it keeps up to the name too
• One dish which I would really to mention is their pumpkin burger (vegetarian) which is really amazing
• The views across the Thames is the selling point of the place
• The food is good but portion sizes for some of the main dishes like the hunter chicken which I ordered was pretty average
• Being run by an older guy who was great and knew exactly how to run the food side of things within a pub
• You knew what you were getting and you could go anytime from 12pm until 6pm and get a great roast
• When the place was refurbished the carvery went as did this cook
• At last I thought the pub were getting the roasts right
• Firstly I booked online and when I arrived I was told a table hadn't been reserved
• Why have a booking online system if this is what happens
• We were seated anyway and given the menu's with the roast menu at the top
• At no stage were we told the roasts had run out by the lady who seated us
• I then went to order and was told the roasts had run out
• I'm sorry but that is no excuse and poor management by both the pub and kitchen managers
• If you state the food is served until a certain time
• I had planned to have dinner here with other members of my family who would have traveled quite far to be disappointed
• Great location and a great looking pub but for whatever reason the food is never consistent and can't be relied on
