Mediterranea Restaurant & Pizzeria (Crystal Palace)

• My friend and me were walking the area and came across Mediterranea Restaurant & Pizzeria (Crystal Palace) around lunchtime
• One of the waiters gently encouraged us to come in when we were looking at the menu
• He showed us the wonderful Mediterranean food that was prepared and nicely explained the different dishes
• We sat down at a small table and enjoyed what I think was really a good meal at a reasonable price
• The quality was not the best one but as I said you pay a fair price for what you get
• Authentic Sardinian food that fills your belly with the taste of holidays
• They are knowledgeable about the food and wine and were able to cater for some special requests
• As a table of 4 we were able to order and try a variety of food and everybody very much enjoyed their dishes
• Thin crisp like square with rosemary and garlic
• My surprise came with dessert where I tried the Sardinian Sevada
• A pastry filled with pecorino cheese and drizzled with honey
• Perhaps we were a little unlucky with our experience here on Friday
• The service was OK but I would not describe it as friendly
• Perhaps we were unlucky and could have ordered more wisely but I won't be rushing back anytime soon
• It's Italian with a few twists
• I enjoyed the Sardinian bread with rosemary and the olives
• I had the spaghetti with clams which was enlivened with chilis very tasty
• My wife was less impressed with her stuffed pork belly
• We shared a very tasty pudding cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and pistachios
• A bottle of house Barbera and espresso to finish off were all very good
• With friendly Italians who speak to her like she is an old friend
• We started with Aperol Spritz
• Where we were sitting by the window with sun pouring in
• You what I liked it and I could see why it is a good Summer tipple
• It certainly is refreshing
• An aubergine tower of some sort with honey and pine nuts
• I honestly thought it was going to be served hot
• My second choice was a salad tricolore
• Essentially what would see as a safe choice the mozzarella was tough and the tomato tasteless
• Simple cheese and tomato and swore by the fact that it was one of her favourites
• I felt envy as my experience was completely opposite
• The best thing about my experience was being introduced to an Aperol Spritz
• Maybe the starters is not the one
