Four Hundred Rabbits (Crystal Palace)

• It's super funky looking with a modern yet basic interior
• Well priced wood oven fired pizzas made with good quality ingredients and a yummy sour dough
• The choice is very limited but still delicious
• My Mum had the special salad with butternut squash
• The man was disappointed that it was a schooner size
• The grand finale is the Gelupo gelato
• You can have on its own (if you're CRAZY) or as a Sundae with as many toppings as you like
• If you want to be a copy cat get my hazelnut and salted caramel scoops topped with salted caramel sauce
• That was before I found out it was from the people behind the Lido Cafe
• On a Friday evening it was buzzing and the no booking policy meant that larger groups had a small wait for tables
• Dining as a pair we were seated straight away on the high bench style seating
• Though sourdough pizza is nothing particularly new to Londoners
• It took a while for it to make it's way to Crystal Palace but hallelujah in late 2015 it did in the form of 400 Rabbits and boy was it worth the wait
• I could've gone for any one but settled in with the house aged Hereford beef
• Toppings generous and dough fresh with that beautiful resistance to the bite which is the calling card of sourdough
• Though the usual menu items in their own right are quite special
• Tomato and mozzarella pizza disappeared nearly as quickly as it was brought to the table such was its quality
• Who would've thought that brussels sprouts on a pizza could work with its slight bitterness actually adding an interesting dimension to each bite
• Finishing with a gingerbread gelato from Gelupo (one of an ever changing menu) topped with salted caramel sauce
• I reflect on a top meal and one which proves 400 Rabbits is no pretender
• These guys are here to stay and I couldn't be more pleased about it
