  • One of londons best kept secrets

  • The service is friendly but intermittent at best

  • The waiters seemed quite happy to leave us sitting there with a menu and no drink (for me anyway) while we tried to catch their eyes

  • T seem to believe that we were going to actually stay there for dinner

  • In retrospect is a bit worrying

  • We had read that the lamb dishes were exceptional at the Mandalay so we decided that would be our best bet

  • My egg and potato samosas were tasty with lightly spiced potato inside &ndash

  • The spring rolls were also tasty but the mixed fritters were a bit strange

  • I am not sure any of us would win any prizes for healthy eating choices with those deep fried goodies

  • We were presented with a trio of lamb in brown sauce

  • Were really quite small portions with only a few cubes of lamb each

  • As the portions were quite petite

  • Pink milky liquid which looked like one of those cheap milkshakes you make with the red syrup

  • The milk was flavoured with rose water which gave it an odd perfumed taste

  • The tapioca was tasteless even though it looked very strange

  • The blue stuff turned out to be a flavourless jelly which was just completely weird

  • T help thinking they were leftover from several days ago and the gravy had been washed up before they were chopped up and mixed into my pudding

  • The lump of ice cream floating in the middle was the best bit

  • The restaurant is not one any of us would return to &ndash

  • Our experience was deep fried followed by brown followed by milky &ndash

  • That combination is never going to make for an overwhelming restaurant experience

  • My mum cooks all of the best Burmese dishes to perfection and yet I still come here occasionally on dates as the food is lovely and very traditional

  • The owner and family are also lovely people

  • The restaurant itself is very tired

  • To be fair they were investing their money on a new more modern location closer to Paddington station

  • They unfortunately found out too late that the council said they were not allowed to cook any food there

  • It used be the best authentic Burmese food place in town

  • It has not only lost its rustic Burmese feel but food portions have gone down dramatically while prices are being maintained

  • The place is so small you could almost walk past it without noticing but if you walk inside you are sure to return again and again

  • Dwight (the owner) is a super friendly guy and serves the food with passion

  • It's a family run kitchen and you can see that they are there for their love for Burma and its food

  • We also tried take away from this restaurant and each dish is packed really well as it is difficult food to be packed with so many condiments but it is as amazing

  • So needless to say that the Burmese kitchen was an even bigger mystery to me

  • So when I heard that there was a Burmese restaurant in London with homestyle food

  • What Mandalay offers is soul food

  • Chicken samosas and chilli chicken which were all very good

  • The bamboo shoot and mushroom stir fry and the tapioca pudding with Agar Agar blew my mind

  • The service is very friendly and homely

  • This review will be helpful for people who are looking for authentic Burmese food

  • Portion size for that price is way too small

  • The only thing that was okay was the faluda

  • Drink is as high at the new venue as it was in the old one

  • Loved all of them especially Calabash which came with an excellent tamarind and ginger chutney

  • Loved the lamb and the khausey was worth trying as its the Burmese speciality

  • Dessert we had the tapioca and agar agar pudding(Burmese pudding) and Burmese tea which is tea in condensed milk

  • This restaurant is now at kilburn and not edgware road
