• Casual service with changing menu written on the blackboard
• The kitchen is touted as British
• It feels quite French influenced to me because the cooking style is rather rich
• First dish to arrive were bubble and squeak croquettes served with a good dollop of bovril flavoured homemade mayonnaise
• Rich and filling with nonetheless a light texture inside
• Next we got the charcuterie board which contained very thin slices of pork coppa and venison salami garnished with undressed watercress
• Artichoke hearts had been pan fried then roasted and served with some cow's curd and sweet potato crisps
• Deliciously soft with an intense artichoke flavour
• Smoked and fried spuds were delicious with the same bovril mayonnaise
• Last dish to arrive was the smoked beef stew
• A small terrine of rich stew with a dumpling and carrots and brussel sprouts
• The two of us 5 of the little dishes was a filling meal that left no room for dessert
• Perhaps our order was a little skewed because our reservation was late at 21
• The house wine is a very reasonable 17.50 and quite pleasant
