The Lighterman (Islington)

• Last weekend was Beyonce&rsquo
• Had the squash and red onion tartin which was too sweet and the sweet potato burger
• Would come back again with a friend to have that with a coffee
• The lighterman was a person who steered the flat bottomed barges used to transfer goods
• Their role is now obsolete
• I'll start with the positives
• The cocktail menu is great and reasonably priced
• We ordered several different ones and they were all delicious
• The Lighterman (Islington) was really let down by the table service
• Bar service was fine but the table service was terrible
• It was was painfully slow (we were ordering in late afternoon
• We were never actually asked if we wanted to order food we asked for menus at the bar and were surprised to be told it was table service
• I ordered a veggie burger but they brought it with mayonnaise instead of the barbecue sauce I'd requested
• This wasn't the end of the world as it was on the side so I simply asked for BBQ sauce again
• It was a tiny splodge of sauce and a charge was not mentioned at any time
• I would possibly go back if I was in the area as maybe it was just an off day and I like to give places a second chance
• Sitting at the back you would be forgiven to think that you were anywhere but the back of Kings cross station
• Well seasoned with salt and chilli flakes
• Great location but the food was way below average
• S just seemed like someone in the kitchen was having a terrible day
• The 2 stars are purely for location
