The Gay Hussar (Soho)

• The walls are lined with books and political portraits
• While upstairs there is an elegant dining room
• You feel more like you are in a private members' club than a restaurant
• You can try the ubiquitous goulash or perhaps the smoked breast of goose with solet and red cabbage
• The stuffed cabbage is another Hungarian staple and there is a great air of authenticity about all the dishes
• Unfortunately this restaurant is like Labour today
• Decoration wise this is not a bad thing
• Food wise this is a disaster
• My cherry soup was basically thinned cherry yoghurt with a shot of schnapps while my partners Hungarian sausage was also just a big mediocre tasting sausage
• Mains I had the goulash which was OK while my partner had the duck livers
• The duck livers were on nuclear yellow unidentified mash
• May be that is why so many Labour politicians like it
• The waiter at Gay Hussar is an icon of era bygone but yet throughly modern as he knows everything to know and specially as he eloquently answers about the menu
• The Gay Hussar (Soho) is a jewel in Soho
• I would go there with a friend xD
