The menu is an absolute delight with a really wide range of ingredients used (you're not just eating goats cheese and mushroom) and the amazing accompaniments to each fish think innovative salads
-
I had one of the best halloumi skewers I've tasted as the saltiness of the cheese was perfectly complimented with a chickpea
-
I was too stuffed to try dessert but had a spoon of the chocolate marquise with oranges from a friend and it was delish
-
The only thing that I would give a miss is the Thai food on the menu given that you can get authentic Thai only a block down the road
-
The Gate (Clerkenwell) is a keeper and will certainly figure in my regular restaurants portfolio
-
Amazing selection of freshly squeezed juices is also a plus
-
The waitress was a little bit forgetful what was a disadvantage to the overall experience
-
I had a lovely meal and remember thinking the food was exciting and reminded me of Greens
-
3) to start and the Spritzer was particularly delicious
-
Tasting like a fiery ginger beer but much healthier with soda water
-

Peppers and courgettes with chickpea salsa and a pepper coulis

It came presented wonderfully with plenty of salsa and coulis to dip the spiced meaty Halloumi into
-
8.50) which was a baby artichoke filled with goats cheese
-
Butternut and basil served with a puy lentil salsa and garlic aioli
-
The goats cheese was perfectly creamy and worked really well with the earthy lentil salsa
-
The Asparagus Rotolo was one of the nicest vegetarian main courses I&rsquo
-
Courgettes and red peppers with herb ricotta and goat&rsquo
-
S cheese rolled in a thyme infused potato served with salad and sauce vierge
-
The asparagus was the thickest and tastiest asparagus I&rsquo
-
The Cous cous Crusted Aubergine char grilled aubergine filled with cream cheese
-
Chilli and coriander coated with chermoula Cous Cous and served with a chickpea &
-
Green schoog was presented well and came full of flavour with a good texture between the soft aubergine and crisp Cous Cous coating
-
We were both too full for dessert so finished the meal with an espresso (£
-
I loved The Gate and the meal was perhaps even nicer than my first visit to the original Hammersmith restaurant a few years ago
-
Delicious and presented beautifully and while some might think it is perhaps pricey for a meal without meat
-
Great atmosphere and variety of food the place was packed when we got there which shows that it's a great restaurants regardless of whether it's vegetarian or not
-
Took a vegetarian friend who was visiting from overseas after reading about The Gate (Clerkenwell) a few times before
-
The service was excellent and I really enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant
-
I will make sure I go back with a cousin of mine who is a vegan just to try more on the menu
-
The stuffed courgette flower was a highlight
-
The only dairy free main was a slightly disappointing curry
-
Service was slow after mains (when the restaurant was at capacity)
-
The coffee is sadly terrible
-
The corncakes were a bit soggy
-
This vegetarian restaurant is truly heavenly
-
The atmosphere is vibrant and warm
-
We started with the courgette appetizer
-
I am a sucker for anything with goat cheese
-
It was great that they corrected their mistake with a new appetizer
-
The service was also quite slow and a tad unatttentive
-
I have eaten at The Gate once and it was an awful experience
-
I found the food bland and the atmosphere was unwelcoming
-
I expected more from The Gate in terms of their food and service and was quite embarrassed to have taken guests there for my birthday
-
If you are looking for vegetarian food which is not Indian but equally awesome (but lot different in taste) you must visit The Gate (Clerkenwell)
-
It is so so good that you will get 'best food you ever had' thought for sure with every bite
-
The restaurant itself was much bigger than I&rsquo
-
The decor is modern and minimalistic with lots of black and white furnishings and industrial lampshades and there is a small cocktail bar that I must be sure to sample next time
-
My only slight criticisms would be that the tables are a little too close together and it was quite noisy in a busy cafeteria kind of way
-
Fine for dinner with friends but I wouldn&rsquo
-
Being a vegetarian I was super excited to visit The Gate
-
The food wasn't all that amazing and it seemed that the options were from too many different cuisines and so there wasn't really a focus on a couple of areas
-
Pear and chilli crumble was quite fun to eat and I would recommend it to anyone feeling a little adventurous
-
M on a mission to find the best vegetarian food in London
-
The olive infused bread was quite tasty
-
Courgette flower filled with sweet potato
-
We managed to trick someone else by photo that these were deep fried chicken pieces
-
They contained minimal oil to coat the lovely flowers which went deliciously with the healthy nuts and goats cheese
-
We started with a couple of fresh pineapple and grapefruit juices while we pored over the extensive menu
-
The first thing we noted was how incredibly colourful and well presented they both were
-
The potato cake was filled with baby corn
-
The tamarind sauce and mint and corriander chutney were dashed around the plate rather than slopped into side dishes
-
It was essentially leeks and shallots baked with creme fraiche inside a cheese pastry (yum)
-
Topped with caramelised red onions (stop) and finished with a herb oil glaze
-
Mine was overflowing with crispy carrot (or
-
Basil in a baked thyme infused rolled potato and served with a tomato and caper salsa
-
Lemon butter sauce was ~sensational
-
The best part was digging in to the strange potato dish
-
There was no way i was walking out of that restaurant anything other than full
-
Fried kale and a horseradish cream sauce was devoured in half the time it took me to examine the contents of my rotolo and try to decipher each of the ingredients
-
Cold chips away from us with what was left of my dish
-
Rebekah's completely devoured with not a single drop of cream left on the plate plate
-
My vegetarian adventure was nothing but a taste sensation
-
This dessert left me with nothing but a nutty
-
From the walnut decoration we concluded that it was mostly nut based
-
Both meals were incredibly filling
-
The presentation of ~everything was not what i would expect from such an affordable restaurant
-
Vegans and those who do not identify with a particular diet alike
-
Full to the brim with nothing but ~vegetables
-
I'm not one who usually opts for the veggie item on a menu so was a tad sceptical of a restaurant that only serves vegetarian food
-
The standout of which was the halloumi
-
The potato cakes were great and the beetroot tart was huge and delicious with a crisp base
-
I had mushroom risotto which was too delicious and very different from the risotto at most eateries
-
Not a vegetarian myself I often find myself dining with friends with various levels of complex dietary requirements who simply are left with very little choice on the menu once the nuts
-
Sadly though it seems the customer is exploited by simple supply and demand as the restaurant is full of people craving a full vegetarian menu but the food itself was adequate in flavour at best
-
Couple this with an ill informed and ill attentive staff the only explanation of why I&rsquo
-
M sitting in a full restaurant feeling ripped off on a Sunday evening is basic economics 101&hellip
-
T find in other dining establishments so things like Thai curry and Tortillas are out&hellip
-
So opt to share the artichoke hearts served in a vaguely interesting sounding tomato sauce with sour cream (not needed in fact
-
On asking the waitress to explain what that means and to recommend one of the four bottles available she was completely stumped
-
M mid conversation with friends so will take a blind guess instead
-
Well yes there are 4 seasons&hellip
-
Whipped cream is cream that is whipped by a whisk or mixer until it is light and fluffy
-
Whipped cream is often sweetened and sometimes flavoured with vanilla
-
Food looked fantastic but was a little bland
-
The beetroot tart was mainly onion and didn't taste very beetroot y
-
The dragon salad was very heavy on the carrot and light on the tofu
-
The triangles were a little bland
-
Quality of food and the taste of food is beyond excellent
-
Very good ambience with positive vibes
-
Also tried teh Thai green curry which was well presented
