  • Come here for one of the best Gastropubs in London

  • Forget the idea of dull and stale pubs where the most you can get to eat is a bag of crisps

  • Reservation is essential if you hope to grab a bite

  • Any wait and discomfort you might experience are more than balanced by the amazing food they serve

  • All in the all the wait was not too bad

  • A nice assortment of ales and lagers on tap was more than satisfying

  • We started with some nice smoked duck breast served with apple chutney and curried potted shrimps

  • We finished it with a nice Eton mess with wild berries and washed everything down with a good red from provence from the short but well chosen wine list

  • The Garrison is a foodie's delight on Bermondsey Street

  • It serves a range of excellent food from an extensive menu in a pleasingly haphazard dining room with spaces for groups and more intimate dining

  • Where their excellent breakfast menu will satisfy the most ravenous diner with a great selection of cooked items or the less hungry with eggs

  • The coffee is good and you can select a more adventurous drink from the bar if a brunch time cocktail is your thing

  • We'd just been to a fantastic preview at the White Cube opposite so this was the perfect place to stroll over too afterwards

  • Was a busy night so we were lucky to get a table at all

  • It's a tough job and they get a hard time in reviews more often than not but there were a comedy of errors from forcing hasty decisions (when there was plenty of time)

  • Interruptions to check on how the food was when it was clear we were deep in discussion to walking off half way through us ordering

  • I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt and assume it was the guy's first day or something so do not deduct any points

  • Was not bothered in the slightest though as there was plenty more to choose from

  • Whereas my companions chose the Ox shin served with red cabbage

  • My concerns about the salmon coming out too dry were quickly proven unfounded

  • We also couldn't resist sharing a plate of chicken livers with Jerusalem artichoke

  • Always serves very good quality food and the service is also excellent

  • The only thing is make sure you make a reservation as during the weekend they're very packed

  • The Garrison is as much my local as the Bluebird is to the cast of Made in Chelsea

  • That its food is completely overridden by its diabolical service

  • This has all changed since a new management team was recently introduced

  • Last time we visited the staff were polite and enthusiastic from the word go

  • I couldn't have been happier with this recommendation

  • The fish itself was also of fish ially the best I've had in London even batter than Bailey's infamous cod (see review below)

  • As the pub is situated in Bermondsey

  • I was so enamoured with its cozy vibe I thought it the perfect thing for a sunday post to enjoy with your morning cuppa coffee

  • Pitching up with the paper and whiling away the hours

  • If the food is as good as it looked by popping a comment below

  • Food is great and so is the wine menu

  • We decided to walk from our hotel to the train station and see what there was on offer and we walked straight into The Garrison

  • They just opened for the day and the staff were super friendly and chirpy and we were seated straight away

  • It was a really funky looking pub and I was super glad we walked past this little joint

  • The Garrison is a great place to have lunch on Bermondsey Street

  • The restaurant's interior decoration is well thought through

  • The service is very friendly and the menu seems to have recently changed e

  • No more pancake which is a shame but the bread is once again proper bread instead of toast

  • The Garrison is just one of the many eateries on the well trodden Bermondsey Street in south London

  • In part my fears were realised &ndash

  • Painted white with green glass bottles adorning the walls

  • Our bill was brought to us and we were forcibly removed from our table
