  • One of the hidden gems of the Thames is the Cutty Sark pub at Greenwich

  • The downstairs floor is cobbled and the rest is heavy

  • With a winding central staircase and low ceilings with wooden beams

  • It has just reopened after a spruce up and with a new menu

  • Medium rare with bearnaise sauce and triple cooked chips

  • After a ham hock terrine with pickles and sourdough and rounded off with rhubarb fool

  • You may regret not ordering the scallops and pork belly with cauliflower puree

  • Thanks to the refurb there is now an additional private dining area on the second floor (The Crow's Nest) that can be booked for functions

  • You'll find a range of Youngs and popular European beers as well as a decent selection of wine (and it is a fine place to enjoy a glass by the window on a quiet afternoon)

  • This beautiful old pub is on the side of the Thames where you overlook Canary Wharf and the O2 arena in the same view

  • The window views are in big demand so book those if you can

  • Had scallops and black pudding with celeriac to start followed by dish of the day haddock

  • Some very nice wines and finished off with a great Australian red desert wine

  • The cuisine is mainly British oriented

  • I recommend going with a couple of friends or family

  • This pub is quaint with old world charm and dining sections that seem to float

  • I've had a lamb shank type stew with lentils that was tender and so flavourful

  • Particularly if you are a large party

  • Get a table with a view because these are not to be missed

  • The prices are reasonable and have pub food

  • I would not recommend going for anything fancy in a pub and I did the rookie mistake of going for the swordfish with couscous which smelt and tasted terrible with one bite

  • I told the waitress that I couldn't eat it and this was apologetically and promptly replaced by the fish and chips which was stellar

  • Also the wines are not bad for a pub I recommend the Sangiovese

  • The last floor on the top closes at 10 which was bizarre for us and we were told to go downstairs to enjoy and drinks

  • This historic pub is a pleasure to wile away time in

  • The interior is very traditional

  • Not sure what was happening in there

  • All of the dishes were cooked extremely well

  • Lovely old pub with cozy warm feeling and good food

  • I had fish and chips and was Very nice and a huge portion

  • My partner had a tasty big sandwich with all the trimmings and fresh fab chips

  • Highly recommended if you are in the area

  • We decided on Cutty Sark Tavern in Greenwich for this occasion when we were in England in September 2016

  • What a lovely place with a typical English pub setup
