The atmosphere is hipster but the interior is airy and spacious
-
They have a large selection of beers and freshly made juices which are a nice healthy option
-
Teething problems were likely the reason for the points off here
-
Anchovy butter served with the bread was rather a big shout and watching my main float around table to table before landing at the correct spot was mildly frustrating
-
T that many items on the menu I was particularly taken with
-
I'd like to fool myself that it was healthier than actual pork scratchings though
-
Stephen got the anchovy salad and I had the artichoke with crab butter because it sounded the most interesting
-
It is basically liquefied butter with crab meat in it and is one of the richest things I&rsquo
-
It tastes good with the artichoke leaves but they don&rsquo
-
What we really could have done with was some house bread to dip in it
-
) I feel this is stingy on the part of restaurants these days
-
Such gestures are appreciated
-
Stephen was more than happy to give me a hand with this as his was a little underwhelming
-
M sure that all the ingredients were of the highest quality and fresh as a daisy
-
Where quality is everything) we want some more interesting ingredients as well
-
I know the trend is to cook it pink these days
-
The potatoes were pretty full on when it came to the mustard
-
I could bear with them with the rest of the meal but couldn&rsquo
-
S sardines were fresh and cheeky looking
-
They were a little underdone there was some blood towards the spine
-
He thought was too sweet but I thought it was really good and kept nicking it to dilute the mustardiness of my potatoes
-
Nor does it seem to be just a restaurant with a bar attached
-
Was pleasantly surprised with the interesting variety of food
-
Very impressed with the service here
-
The furniture was quite comfortable and cosy as well
-
We were met with disappointment as they were out of both of those
-
I read quite great reviews of The Culpeper (Spitalfields) so thought to give it a try and went there with a friend for evening meal
-
There are interesting options when it comes to selections from menu and EVERYTHING is delicious much
-
Most of the dishes that I've tried are professionally prepared and tastes exquisite
-
The food was reasonably priced as well and the ambiance of the place was pretty vibrant too
-
The staff was quite generous and the seating was quite comfortable as well
-
Visited The Culpeper (Spitalfields) a few times and have always been content but this time we were disappointed
-
Have no issues with the food being served
-
We were displeased with the service
-
We did not have an advance booking the staff was really helpful and managed to get us a table on their roof top seating
-
Service as well was prompt and pleasing
-
The roof top garden here which supplies the ingredients is of high quality and you can also sit over there
-
The lighting is just perfect
-
The starters were appetizing and the juices the freshly prepared and very tasty
-
Went to the Culpeper with a group of friends on a busy evening
-
Was nice since it is such a busy place
-
I got there earlier than planned with my brother
-
To meet K who was out shopping that day
-
My brother ordered a local beer brewed with fresh lime zest which was quite unique in flavour (BBNo 01|06)
-
Soon the rest of the group arrived and enjoyed a drink with us at the very buzzy bar of the Culpeper
-
One of them is just the bedrooms
-
It is typical for such an arrangement what surprised me is that the menu was very limited and that you could not order from a different kitchen other than the level you were on
-
This probably only open or usable in the summer it has a very nice atmosphere and feel to it with some great views of the City and some freshly cooked food from the grill
-
Unfortunately due to poor lighting the iPhone photos are too grainy&hellip
-
We were sat at our table and were brought the wine menu which was passed to A
-
I must remember to take notes regardless the fact that I am with a big group
-
I must admit was not what I expected as I thought that it was coming with horseradish and I was surprised that the meat was fridge cold and a bit bland
-
There was a negative review of the buffalo mozzarella with pickled girolles &
-
Oregano but generally everyone seemed to be happy with their starters
-
The main was 750gr of beef rump to share with my brother and it was EPIC
-
The evening came to end with a round of cocktails
-
Especially for a Sunday roast which is always an important test for gastropubs
-
Mostly British in essence with some modern creative touch from other European countries
-
The Culpeper was a great finding on our way to the market
-
The herbal tea is great and caffe latte is very well made as well
-
Confy place and great service is also provided
-
My hubby and I shared and were quite satisfied
-
We also had the cod fritters and they were delightful
-
Beautiful gastro pub with high ceilings and a industrial shabby chic type feel with retro furniture and a wonderful zinc topped bar in the centre
-
I was disappointed with the food having read rave reviews for the Culpeper in the broadsheets
-
Downstairs the pub is a bit noisy on a Saturday night but upstairs the restaurant it is quite civilized
-
Good service with the exception of one over zealous bus person who kept wanting to clear away plates we weren't finished with
-
Service is casual but new cutlery is brought with each course
-
Tap water and bread with anchovy butter were brought as we settled down to the table
-
Starters there were two orders of the Squid
-
One order of Wood Pigeon Wellington with Celeriac Salad
-
My squid was some crisp polenta dusted calamari with inky black risotto and excellent alioli
-
Sebastian Law had the wood pigeon wellington and was disappointed that it tasted like a posh sausage roll
-
The accompanying spiralized celeriac slaw was light and refreshing
-
Didn't come with anything to juxtapose the charcuterie
-
Well cooked with a crisp skin that had been doused in floured prior to frying and a nice soft texture to the flesh
-
The sole came with pleasant sides of new potatoes and buttery sauteed spinach
-
Hearty portion of pork was a tiny touch on the dry side
-
I prefer mine cooked to a slight blush which is well within the new safety guidelines of internal temperature of 64C
-
The culpeper was a great stop for a good beer and a good cup of wine last night
-
The ambiance is cool and staff is very nice
