  • Three ingredients are listed for each dish

  • Corner Room must compete as one of the best value lunches in London

  • 1 per person included (bland) white and (excellent) walnut bread with freshly churned butter

  • Probably because we were ten minutes late for our reservation

  • S beetroot and crumbly goats curd with black mustard was an eyeful of purples

  • No less pleasant was my starter of pig&rsquo

  • No words on a menu fill me with such joy as those

  • Everything is placed so particularly that there can&rsquo

  • A main of cod with clam porridge (very Heston)

  • The only disappointment was the plaice with brown butter puree and chard

  • Everything was cooked beautifully

  • The overly strong sweetness from the puree contrasting with the bitter chard slightly spoilt the delicate fish

  • Each component was perfectly matched and a real pleasure to eat

  • His cooking is thought provoking and smile inducing &ndash

  • S so affordable that a glitch with a dish here or there is easily overlooked

  • The Corner Room is located in the Town Hall Hotel

  • The Town Hall Hotel is really grand

  • Great to enjoy and share dinner with your friends

  • Bread and still water however comes with a compulsory charge of £

  • Starters we went for the cured mackerel with tomatos and duck&rsquo

  • The ducks heart is not for the faint of heart

  • Very strong in flavours and some could be put off by its aromas but having it with the crunchy lettuce and herb pesto dressing is delicious

  • Crispy skin and the sauce was light sweet and fragrant with a light dash of cream and the charred courgette really was to die

  • The iberico pork however was abit too strong for me in terms of the gaminess it gives&hellip

  • The reason being that it was a wild breed of pork that had a specific set of diet and was matured over time

  • The couscous that accompany it was really sharp and strong in terms of acidity from the lemons&hellip

  • We got butternut squash with smoked coconut and apple

  • Also the pannacotta and apple hazelnut were really refreshing

  • Corner room in Bethnal Green Town Hall is the epitome of class and sophistication without the need for extravagance and tablecloths

  • Nuno Mendes's other restaurant within the same building are to close on the 28th Feb

  • Even the iberico jamon was something special

  • I had the calf's tongue with liquorice and wild leek

  • My companions starter of sea bream ceviche with fermented buttermilk and apple was really good

  • Mains was iberico presa with pear and barley

  • Quite an unusual combination but worked really well with the medium rare iberico

  • Hazelnut and frozen pannacotta was a sweet end to the meal

  • Puree was very fresh with the hazlenuts adding a nice texture contrast

  • The wine list was good and fairly affordable with most choices hovering just above the £

  • Tables were a little small and close together but for the style of food served there was enough room

  • The menu at Corner Room is very small

  • I thought I saw a trend here with their three starters

  • Three desserts and the dishes were described in three main ingredients

  • No other indication of how they were prepared or cooked

  • Your imagination were left to roam wild

  • Most of their chefs are given the chance to excel themselves in this kitchen before being promoted to their larger hotel restaurant

  • What can I say that the 12.5% service charge was certainly well justified in this case

  • 30.00 per person with drinks included

  • It is not a cheap lunch and with lunch in this style

  • If you have noticed there is not much carbs on the plate

  • Meaty combination with greenish goodness makes it quite a light dish

  • Sweet pear with pork works with the barley

  • Not leasst because the dish did start off with a good piece of meat

  • This might take you by surprise if you are not prepared for it

  • Tucked away inside the Town Hall Hotel is Corner Room

  • Not to be confused with Lee Westcott's Typing Room downstairs

  • Corner Room was very well thought of when Nuno Mendes ran it alongside Viajante

  • Even though it was closer to afternoon tea than lunch

  • Salted Jersey butter (delicious but competing with fond memories of complimentary sourdough at Trinity and The Dairy)

  • Some shy raw minced beef was hiding under a cloak made out of turnips and hazelnuts

  • Mains were modest which was appreciated after a gluttonous morning

  • The plates were busy but nothing overpowered

  • The sprinkling of rhubarb and ginger on the glorious pork cheeks was judged perfectly

  • Faultless presentation continued into the sweet course with eye catching Ewe's Milk &

  • A lack of sharing is always a good sign for all dishes

  • We finished off with coffee and flumps

  • The bargain lunch menu is the place to start

  • The Corner Room is well disguised within the Town Hall as you need to enter through the side entrance which doubles as the hotel reception

  • I really want to spend a night in the hotel if the reception is anything to go by

  • It has a feeling of old world grandeur with the large staircase and marble floors yet has some wonderfully modern

  • Anyway back to the restaurant a similar style is used in here

  • The menu is crafted with the idea of sharing in mind

  • Some are not actually that ideal for sharing and some are so good you wont want to

  • They also have the option of a tasting menu with wine matching

  • Stand out dishes included the Sasify with oyster emulsion (amazing) and bacon crumbs

  • Price for two was about £

  • Wine was well priced with an eclectic mix of European wines starting from £

  • The atmosphere is cozy and vibrant but not too loud for easy conversation

  • It was recommended as not to be missed in London and we were not disappointed

  • Our server was friendly but not overbearing

  • Attentive and helpful with suggestions

  • Everything was cooked to perfection

  • We had an incredible dessert that was delightful

  • Overall the food was exceptional

  • The timing of the dining experience was just right

  • The Corner Room used to be my favorite restaurant in London when it was run by Nuno Mendes

  • The tartar was tasty and had the surprise of toasted hazelnuts

  • My main of lamb neck fillet with mussel emulsion was less exciting

  • I tasted my lunch companion's orange parfait with yuzu and rhubarb and found it quite strange

  • The food at the Corner Room was just lovely

  • Something about the ambience was just a little off

  • While the prices are pretty good

  • As I say the food was much more than perfectly pleasant to eat

  • I loved the way the asparagus was shaved so thinly

  • Cooked pink and imbued with smoke from the smoky apple accompaniment

  • A lovely blend of sweetness and meat and I made sure to swipe up as much of the residue as possible with the broccoli (though not the florets hate those

  • ) which came with chorizo (even better) spring beans and baby gem

  • Participated in a 5K run that afternoon so of course we had to treat ourselves with dessert (and cocktails

  • Dessert wasn't the greatest to end on I thought mine was a little dry and not indulgent enough though I appreciated not leaving overly stuffed

  • I was really impressed with the overall cooking quality at the Corner Room

  • Good depth of flavours with a clean and contemporary presentation

  • Not to mention the price which was amazing value for mone

  • S resident restaurant Corner Room providing a BBQ with changing menu and pop up bar with carbonated cocktails on tap by in house bar and distillery Peg + Patriot

  • Corner Room is the newest venture by Nuno Mende

  • To round off was a good cheese selection with a very surprising Vin Santo

  • When I compare to the 4's I have given it is not quite there

  • The surrounding area may seem like a dump in Bethnal Green but the hotel is placed perfectly in the East End

  • S somewhere to escape with its historic allure of the original architectural design and vintage furnishings
