Claude's Kitchen (Parsons Green)

• On Tuesday it was the sophisticated lady's birthday so we decided to try this addition to the neighbourhood
• The reviews so far were really good
• The small dining room above Champagne bar amuse Bouche is nice and rustic and it has real charm
• We both started with the smoked mackerel
• Loved how the smokiness was contrasting with the peppery taste of the radish
• The sophisticated lady had the guinea fowl which was cooked tender and juicy
• The bone marrow coming with it was fried until crumbled
• By then the 2 large glasses of (young) red wine had us really red cheeked ( or was it the bottle of champagne we had befwore the meal) and i was the only one hungry enough for desert
• Not sure why the name but the chocolate paste was a bit too dry and sticky and I thought it was trying too hard to be something special without delivering
• The dining room is above a champagne bar called Amuse Bouche
• Spinach and sweet pickle yoghurt was the best dish of the evening
• This was better than smoked aubergine with spring onion
• The radish had quite good flavour but it is hard to get excited about such a basic dish (11/20)
• One was affogato and one was just strawberries
• Padded out with chutney and more bread
• The waitresses were competent but seemed quite stretched
• I was out for a meal with friends and we had the most professional personable service
