The previous maze of elevators and floor changes through tower 42 to get to Rhodes 24 was just a pain
-
To the right of the building there is a dedicated city social entrance with it's own doorman and dedicated lift
-
I loved Rhodes 24 and was sad when it closed
-
The normal toilets are awesome as they too have the view over London
-
The service was delightful and the staff had personalities
-
The cocktails were weird and small but packed one hell of a punch
-
This was my 30th birthday and I was blessed to have the private room and chefs table with a window to the kitchen
-
I don't doubt for a second that the food and service experience is exactly the same in the main dining room
-
Before I talk about the food I firmly believe that if you are going to make comparisons
-
So I can't be drawing any with places like Ramsay at royal hospital road
-
I would compare with the savoy grill
-
The gluten free roll was very nice but not exceptional (I'm being so picky
-
The pigs trotter and black pudding were breaded parcels
-
Some people were worried about a whole trotter turning up
-
A real porkiness that is usually missing from a similar dish
-
The tomato and frozen basil was light and refreshing
-
The steak was a real hit with 7 out of the 9 ordering
-
They all expected a mini steak so were very pleased when a hunk of beef turned up
-
Some may have thought it was under seasoned but I will tell you why it wasn't
-
They didn't need to cover it with seasoning because a flavour most of us have actually long forgotten was there
-
Someone asked me a question when I took my first bite and I couldn't answer because I was having moment a spiritual moment
-
This without question is the best duck I have ever had
-
Now I did remove the fat as the majority was not rendered and crisp but boy I could not care less
-
So generous was the nature of city social that they then brought us 3 more scoops to share so the table could all taste it
-
The ice creams and sorbets were definite highlights
-
The cherry sorbet on the Black Forest dessert and the strawberry sorbet on the deconstructed cheesecake were both utterly fabulous
-
No amuse bouche with coffee but that may be because I was presented with a birthday cake and a box of salted caramels covered in chocolate that may have been meant for the table
-
The whole night was really topped off by both a trip around the kitchen and the views over London as it changed from day to night
-
All around I think the best experience of it's sort
-
The one mini critique is that we could have done with some green vegetables
-
I came here for drinks with some friends and only took a peek at the menu
-
They gave us a table immediately (we did not have reservations and it was more or less full for a Wednesday night)
-
The ambiance is amazing of course &ndash
-
Made of glass of course and we were all quite impressed with it
-
City Social is the latest 'Social' restaurant from Jason Atherton
-
The executive chef of the restaurant is Paul Walsh
-
The menu of Modern European cuisine was totally fabulous and fortunately we had already decided we were going to be greedy as it is a truth universally acknowledged that birthday calories don't count
-
I have to give a shout out to our waiter who was fabulous and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu
-
Yellow fin tuna tataki with cucumber salad
-
A nice intimate dining room that is always crowded
-
All dishes were distinct and prepared with care and attention
-
The service was excellent well measured in engagement and advice professional
-
The interior is really stylish and well made
-
I have been there with two of my closest friends and I have to admit the place is beautiful and very spacious
-
The gnocchi were soft and light thanks to the artichokes&rsquo
-
I very much appreciated as sometimes they are too marinated or salty
-
The City Social is quite costly
-
Views across London and with Head Chef Paul Walsh
-
Starters consisted of Wye Valley Asparagus with Parmesan Sable
-
I would have been happy with just a plate of these to start with
-
Desert was a White Chocolate Mousse with Caramel Hazelnuts and Salted Caramel Ice Cream
-
This was the best dish of the evening
-
The service was very good and the waiters uniform was a far cry from your usual boring
-
Main course was Dover sole with capers which was amazing
-
The dessert was pavlova with lots of fruits with kaffir lime and coconut
-
My friends said their Venison was a bit salty as well
-
The decor feels a bit old considering it only opened this year it was another restaurant before I believe
-
They could do with a bit of upgrading
-
The waiters were hovering around us and serving us very quickly
-
Was a real surprise and the best ending to such a lovely dinner
-
The reason I've ranked city social a 5 is because it's possibly been the best dining experience I've had
-
The restaurant is on the 28th floor and gives you a view of London
-
I went for dinner and it was dimly lit and full of ambience
-
The staff accidental missed our reservation and we were seated at the bar for about 40 mins before they realized their mistake
-
As well as the best table in the restaurant
-
The quail itself was perfectly cooked
-
Creamed corn and pearl barley was hard to resist once you'd had your first taste
-
So if you're looking for a place with a little bit of everything
-
Last weekend it was my husbands birthday
-
We were having a great day and it was all going so well&hellip
-
As we made our way to dinner (I had booked The Merchants Tavern) there was an electricity van outside the restaurant
-
As we enter we are told a cable has exploded in the street outside and they&rsquo
-
We wanted to just sit and start to order and see how we got on but it was suggested we waited in the bar with a drink
-
We ordered the potato skins with tarragon butter &ndash
-
45 minutes went past and we were told that in an hour they would have to turn the power off
-
City Social is a Jason Atherton restaurant and modern British food is served in glamorous art deco style surroundings
-
Located on the 24th floor of Tower 42 in the City of London the views are quite amazing
-
We arrived with the whole of London glittering before us
-
The lovely lady at Merchants Tavern had passed on that it was my husbands birthday and we were seated at one of the best tables in the restaurant &ndash
-
I would say this is one of my favourite dishes but then I had my main&hellip
-
D ordered the venison loin and shoulder with red cabbage and chestnuts
-
The waitress was very helpful and picked us a great selection
-
The souffle was good but far too big
-
Just over half way through we had to give up as it was just too rich to finish
-
They were also very kind to present D with some birthday chocolates at the end of the meal
-
The food here is brilliant and one of the best meals I&rsquo
-
One great thing about being based at Google Campus is the fact that it is located squarely between Old Street and the City
-
Having conquered W1 with four successful restaurants under his belt
-
I was meeting a friend for drinks last Friday evening and was torn between City Social and Enoteca Rabezza &ndash
-
Even though my most recent foray into the Social clan was a disappointment (Social Eating House &ndash
-
The by the glass list was interesting
-
We both started with a white from Savoie &ndash
-
A wine region that fills me with ski nostalgia &ndash
-
I was struggling to pinpoint whether that was because the surroundings didn&rsquo
-
Savoie is known as a value for money region so I was mildly horrified at the £
-
My next choice was the house white
-
Like the Savoie I thought was disappointing and unnecessarily musty
-
S cheese churros with truffle honey
-
The food on the bar menu sounded extremely alluring and we were tempted to order everything (eyes bigger than stomach syndrome)
-
The most notable was the &ldquo
-
The fried cauliflower heads were perfectly crispy
-
No explanation is needed but I&rsquo
-
Our third dish was Cornish squid with green chilli and lime salt &ndash
-
The views of London were fabulous (although perhaps the poorer cousin of Hutong)
-
The service was very good &ndash
-
Possibly aided by the fact that we were sitting within two feet of three different bartenders
-
The by the glass wine list was wholly disappointing
-
S next establishment is a wine bar
-
I hope the list is better there
-
Would be better if the anti pastis were less pricy
-
The overall lunch experience was good but not to the level that I would consider to be excellent
-
I started feeling lazy that afternoon to go to East London and almost cancelled as I was worried the menu would be too similar to Berners Tavern ( http
-
Com/ ) as they are both Jason Atherton&rsquo
-
We decided to go as my mother was in town and felt like we (as dutifully good kids) should take her to one of the hottest new spots
-
I was also worried it would be another restaurant with a nice view but weak food and service like we recently experienced at Hutong
-
City Social is on the 24th floor of Tower 42 and even though your entry
-
The bar and restaurant are both lovely and the view is
-
City Social is a restaurant that I have wanted to go to for the longest of times
-
My boyfriend and I went to City Social for our 3 year anniversary meal and were a little disappointed
-
The service and food was below par for the prices we paid
-
The tuna tataki starter was good but there wasn't enough of the best parts
-
My lobster was overcooked
-
We were given a slice of the house cake to take home which was a nice touch and much more delicious than our paid for dessert
-
Last weekend it was my husbands birthday and so it was a definite treat yo&rsquo
-
We started the day with poached eggs and avocado on ciabatta
-
As I came in there was a nice restaurant area and stunning views of the city
-
S came out but I was a little disappointed
-
The burgers were a little big and greasy to eat elegantly in front of strangers
-
The service was on point so was the Food
-
Churro a with goats cheese and basil tagliatelle are highly recommended
-
A definite must try though are its cocktails which by far the most mysterious complete with secret messages for some
-
Some of the best views in the city accompanied with a very sophisticated vibe loved the booth seating
-
Started some beautiful dressed oysters and the fantastic duck starter while for mains my steak (served with duck fat chips
-
Pork belly/loin was somewhat disappointing but the rest of the table was extremely happy
-
Our waiters/waitresses were all kind and attentive however it took far too long to be served
-
There are staff waiting around just holding the food on the side for other staff to come serve it which is all very nice but considering the service
-
The last time I visited Tower 42 was five years ago
-
A charmless champagne bar with not much more going for it than a spectacular view
-
(nearly) everything was phenomenal
-
City Social is one of the many strings in Jason Atherton's bow
-
) where they serve great British food in keeping with Mr Atherton's ethos
-
Food creations are interesting
-
We started off with a drink in the lounge area by the window until our table was ready
-
I had my usual old fashioned and it was perfectly done
-
We later moved to our table and the waiter was ready to take our order
-
I had the duck breast as a starter which was delicious and the exquisite pork loin as a main with a choice of bordeaux red wine by the glass
-
Finished off with the chocolate soufflé
-
Definitely a place to visit if you are in the city
-
Dinner Visit on date night overall a great fine dining experience commensurate with a Michelin starred restaurant
-
Greeted on the ground floor by the arrival staff where you are welcomed and directed to the dedicated lift
-
In this slightly darkened space the tables are bathed in light
-
Little islands of experience waiting to be inhabited are dotted all over
-
The style of the interior feels quite old (which is great) but will need some maintenance in the next year or so
-
The noise level is quite low and is great for conversation
-
Complemented with the perfect array of spices
-
Presentation and flavour combinations are quite innovative
-
The service is prompt and friendly
-
Any questions met with well defined answers by knowledgeable staff
-
The service was very timely as the servers were keenly attentive and knowledgable
-
The wine suggested by the sommelier went perfect with our menu choices of lamb and steak
-
The food portions were just right
-
Hopefully that was just a one off coincidence that came down to the cut of meat
-
What I do love was their tuna shard and gherkin
