  • Overall food was good except for duck spring rolls which was total disappointment

  • My top choices are the grilled Asian chicken wings and beef skewers

  • Uk gave us a total of 40 pounds for 4 people with drinks which is amazing value for money

  • When an invitation dropped in my inbox to go to a master class to make Malaysian roti with MasterChef winner Ping Coombes at Chi Kitchen in Debenhams I jumped at the chance

  • Most of these said places are very similar

  • One of those types of food is pan asian bbq

  • Is that the executive chef is the winner of Masterchef 2014 Ping Coombes

  • 15.95) the chicken rendang was good but not served with coconut rice

  • This time I came with a 50% off discount

  • On this visit the service was excellent from start to finish

  • What I have to write about are these amazing Char Siu lamb ribs I had

  • It felt like i was cheating on the yummy ribs

  • My main course was disappointing

  • Tender pieces of sirloin beef shredded and stir fried in sweet chilli sauce served with steamed jasmine rice

  • It was coated in batter and the flavour and texture of the sauce was not to my taste

  • My 2nd visit was a far better food experience

  • The service was better and of course having 50% made it taste even better

  • (the shredded beef was a let down)

  • The Supervisor/Manager was very welcoming

  • My new favourite restaurant is located inside Debenhams

  • Plus the Executive Chef is no other than Masterchef 2014 Winner Ping Coombes

  • The restaurant we were checking out was Chi Kitchen

  • It's a cantine like atmosphere that is fairly bright with poor acoustics

  • As the consultant chef is Malaysian we made sure to order some Malaysian dishes

  • First to arrive was a starter of chicken satay and our vegetable sides of miso aubergine and grilled asparagus with teriyaki sauce

  • Both vegetables were tasty and nicely charred on a cast iron griddle pan

  • The chicken satay was okay but nothing special

  • Chicken thighs were not cooked over charcoal and veering towards the dry side

  • Those cubes of compresssed rice always served with satay in Singapore

  • I prefer versions that include some shrimp paste and sambal along with the peanut

  • Smokey char guay teow was nice and not too greasy

  • It's no better than the same dish at Sedap which is half the price

  • Crispy baby chicken was deep fried joints of poussin

  • A large portion with two legs and two breasts with wings attached

  • Legs were fine but breasts were a touch dry

  • Nice texture on the skin which was not greasy tasting

  • Our other starter of tuna tataki was the last dish to arrive

  • This was the best dish of the night

  • Ping Coombes' Chi Kitchen and more specifically her Sunday morning Breakfast Club is the location for you

  • The entrance is tucked away in Henrietta Place and Chi Kitchen is strategically placed

  • In essence you turn the corner and a wonderful and relaxed culinary journey through South East Asia is awaiting you

  • The extremely reasonably priced four course Asian breakfast is served with unlimited Malaysian tea or coffee

  • Ping herself is as approachable and warm as she came across on Masterchef

  • She greets all her guests to the Breakfast Club one on one and takes the time to introduce her menu before addressing the hungry diners with an update on her latest activities

  • Ping believes that food brings people together and the ethos is there is no rush

  • The first dish was Ping's favourite childhood snack

  • A kari puff which was spicy potato filing encased in puff pastry

  • Next came the Mee Rebus which Ping explained is a very popular dish in Malaysia

  • Mee Rebus is a dish made up of yellow noodles served with gravy made from sweet potatoes and pumpkin

  • The best way is to mix together all the ingredients

  • A sweet coconut based soup served with sweet potatoes

  • This is commonly served as a dessert but is also a great way to kick start breakfast

  • This is a very popular Nyonya dish with enriched textures and flavours

  • With so many elements it was sweet yet flavoursome

  • You do feel revitalised and before you know it you are truly ready to brave/take on Oxford street again

  • A stop off at the Chi Kitchen is very much recommended any day of the week

  • In fact the feeling of happiness created by Ping and her Chi Kitchen will have you ready to shop away with wild abandon

  • Their menu is influenced by Thai

  • S going to be fusion of the best flavours from the Far East
