Canton Arms (Stockwell)

• What was once a dirty South East London boozer is now home to delicious ales and heart warming dishes
• Make sure you go with an appetite
• I like Canton Arms (Stockwell) (a lot) and I ate there nearly 3 nights a week for about a year while our house was being renovated around the corner
• Service and 'interesting' menus are always worth a look at
• Is kind of funny as nothing is more typical than a pub
• The Canton Arms is a roomy pub
• With a large front area with low tables (suitable for drinks and small nibbles)
• A large back room with numerous tables for dining
• A massive bar is at the center of the establishment
• The staff doesn't do a good job of cutting people off who are clearly getting to drunk
• The cast of characters are sometimes too colorful and I've seen one too many bar fights for me to think it is a one off
• I do think overall experience is important and that is lacking
• You can never go wrong with one of their sharing specials
• The Canton arms was the closet and had the highest rating so this is where we headed
• Laid back and was looking hopeful
• The attitude of the staff when we asked for a table was very haphazard
• Their roast was nice but it wasn't a roast
