  • Went here before the Rugby at Twickenham with some work colleagues

  • Good that it was empty and we could enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable meal with 2 or 3 pints

  • Started with the ham hock terrine which was warm and succulent though could have done with an extra slice of toast

  • The sausage and mash was excellent and just what I needed before sinking 6 pints at the rugby

  • Totally dog friendly pub with a good selection of quality food

  • Location was also ideal as it was midway for both of us

  • Thankfully it was a sunny summer&rsquo

  • Following a brief taxi ride with a cabbie that moaned and berated the cyclists

  • Walking there was actually quite pleasant

  • The weather was glorious and nothing else would be justified

  • The roast pork with all the trimmings caught my eye

  • The rest of the group fancied starters so Duck and peppercorn terrine it is then but first a pint of Guinness please

  • Unfortunately K was sitting next to me and there was no way of stopping her from trying

  • A few times as one is never quite enough for quality control purposes

  • K had the serrano ham with melon and manchego which was also delicious

  • Soon after the second pint the mains arrived and I was salivating at the sight of this piece of crackling

  • I tend to feel short changed when I order pork in pubs as the crackling is never enough but not today

  • The guinea fowl was also very succulent and tasty as was the amazing gravy with peas and pancetta that was coming with it

  • The feedback received from the other two that had the beef was also very good

  • It did look great and they were lucky enough to get Yorkshire puds as well

  • Shame that it is usually a rare occurrence in the UK

  • Their food is always great and the staff always friendly

  • I have a feeling it is not really a drinking only pub

  • Of course their devotion and loyalty is something to be treasured

  • What on earth do you do with them when you want to scoot off to somewhere exotic

  • That their wee is disgustingly pungent

  • Associated with witches and devils

  • The ever kittenish looking old lady who believes she is the Queen of Sheba and who occasionally rewards her slaves

  • She has more primadonna moments than are reasonably acceptable but just as we are about to curse her to the high heavens
