What people say about Tanjore (Old Town)
-
All served with a little bowl of Sambar (which is a delicious kind of lentil stew)
-
Seats and decor are there for function rather than style but don't let that put you off
-
Their dosas are delicious and the crab curry is insane
-
Our experience with tomato uttapam was not good as it was not cooked properly but they replaced with another uttapam so no offence
-
Its about 3 years ago i was in Edinburg with my wife on vacation
-
The restaurant is too expensive for the quality and the ambience it provides
-
One of the basic things in south indian foods is Idli and they server them for £
-
This is almost double the price in best south indian restaurants from london
-
The sambar and the chutney was good with authentic south indian taste and even the dosa was good but was small in size considering the price paid
-
The server was very friendly and interactive
-
The kind of food they served is quite authentic and tasty too
-
The best part was the sambar which reminds you the food you get in india
-
Myself and my cousins were looking for a good Indian restaurant and we actually felt home as soon as we crashed down Tanjore (Old Town)
-
It's a typical South Indian restaurant were you find authentic South Indian food
-
The seating is quite tightly packed but enough space to walk
-
The Dosai was crispy with nicely cooked chicken stuffed in it and the paratha wasn't bad
-
It took some time to come but was worth waiting which was a delicious coconut stuffed paratha served with a scoop of icecream
-
The I only downside was the sambhar
-
The place is really compact but the price of some dishes they put up is not worth for the ambience of the restaurant
-
Biryani is our fav South Indian food and the biryani they serve is not an authentic taste of South Indian biryani
-
I personally don't feel good to eat in a restaurant where the staff are not friendly and interactive
-
Potato bonda and paneer spinach dumplings (all very tasty with nice accompaniments)
-
There is a thali lunch deal which is very good value for money
-
Actually the different plates it includes are small so you'll manage to finish it
-
We went for a meal at night time with a bottle of red wine and had a great time
-
28 which was simply phenomenal for the quality of food we received
-
The atmosphere is sincere and the staff very approachable
-
The lunch deal is great value for money
-
The peak times can often be crowded with a slight cue but it's definitely worth the wait
-
One downside is they don't have a pay by card option and accept only cash
-
Also they are closed between 3 to 5pm on a weekday and their last order for lunch is around 2.30pm so time your visit accordingly
-
Overall Food was good and staff was courteous
-
Used to visit Tanjore often when I was studying in Edinburgh
-
One of my favourite places in Edinburgh whenever I was home sick and missing my favourite South Indian food
-
The parosta and chicken curry was decent and was served fresh
-
The ice cream wasn't that great as it was too sweet which left a bad taste
-
You will know this is the best of Indian food
-
We arrived to be greeted with a warm welcome
-
Many years ago I was fortunate enough to have travel for a few months round the south of India
-
One of the best lamb dishes I have ever tasted
