Mariachi (Old Town)

• We assumed the menu was for lunch as there were so few options
• This was not the case and we concluded it was better for a restaurant to excel in a few dishes rather than serve a wide selection of mediocre meals
• The sour cream was a bit excessive
• Our initial opinion on the nachos was fairly positive
• This may have had something to do with the level of hunger we were experiencing rather than the flavours on offer
• The top layer was nice enough
• After the primary layer was consumed we were met with the nemesis of nachos
• Its presence was sorely missed
• Overall the starter was a bit of a let down
• We were sitting with two empty glasses and were asked at no stage if everything was ok with the starter
• A customer should not be made to feel as if they are an inconvenience
• Both meals came with a side of rice and refried beans
• My enchiladas were rolled up and covered in the colour orange
• This ranchero sauce was beyond mild and added nothing to the dish
• Nobody approached our table to see if we were enjoying our food
• After eating half my meal I was finally able to ask for some chilli sauce
• Thankfully the sauce was so tasteless that it wouldn't have helped anyway
• I suspect it was nothing more than tabasco in a pot
• We received a warm welcome and were given a large table at the front of the restaurant
• S were handed out but as it was the start of the night
• I think we all knew it was going to be a memorable night
• The final starter was the Chicken
• The taste buds were rising and it was time to tuck in
• Snuggled wraps tucked in with a blanket of ranchero sauce
• How about a Chimichanga with either chicken or slow cooked chilli beef
• A deep fried Christmas present with oozing sumptuousness
• Chicken and steak sizzling together and every wrap went down with spicy salsa
• Served in a soft taco with shredded lettuce and salsa
• The wedges were crunchy and on the outside and soft on the inside
• Just when we were considering unbuckling the belt
• The majority decided on Churros with one other opting for strawberry ice cream with sprinkles&hellip
• It must have been good as he was transported back to his childhood faster than Marty McFly in the DeLorean
• The Churros were tremendous &ndash
• 3 sweet fritters of dough delicately dusted with sugar and cinnamon and served with deeply rich chocolate sauce and whippet of cream
• This restaurant is perfectly located on grassmarket road opposite to a lot of restaurants and bars
• We ordered Nachos with less cheese and a burrito
• They serve with salsa and avocado topping
• The ambiance is pretty and I would give a 4 too
• We decided for this Restaurante because it looked good outside and it was near our place
• The price was okay for any Mexican we are used to go and the food was so so good
