Mamma's American Pizza (Old Town)

• Mamma's American Pizza (Old Town) promised a lot with it's authentic Italian decor and busy hubbubed atmosphere
• Fantastic pizzas with very interesting ingredients
• I'm sad to say I was boring and opted for Chicken
• Chorizo and Apple on mine (which was absolutely delicious nonetheless it almost brought me to tears
• ) but there are options ranging from extra cheese to chocolate
• My partner had the stoned steak which was absolutely spot on
• Though I fell for the old 'touch the really hot thing that I definitely shouldn't touch and have been warned will burn me if I touch it' with the lava stone it was served on
• Relaxed atmosphere with good music and excellent service
• The large selection of free dips and the gorgeous sweet potato chips were a great addition
• Having been twice with separate groups I have tried the pizza (really cheesy with any toppings you can think of)
• The stone tuna (the best my mother had ever tasted
• So when there is nice weather you can head outside
• I liked it but was a bit overcooked on the base an undercooked on the veg
• Overall it was an good experience
• The decor was abit outdated and could do with a lil touch up
• Now the Grassmarket branch is all that remains
• The range of toppings is huge and you'll probably find yourself debating whether pickled cactus and marshmallows would go together
• Since the Grassmarket was reopened as something that looks rather continental
• The pizza here is absolutely amazing
• As I only wanted a quick pre gig bite this time I picked a chicken burger with bacon topping which I thought would be speedy
• The bread roll open showing juicy chicken fillet topped with bacony bits beside 3 different sauce dips and a portion of chips
• The chips were pretty poor too kind of tasteless crisp outside with fluffy nothing inside
• Service was excellent and prompt even though they were very busy and everything looked freshly cooked and was well presented
• Only for the staff to inform us it had been made with cheese and they'd have to make another from scratch
• I ordered a medium gluten free pizza but was presented with a small
• We had also ordered sweet potato fries and were presented with standard chips
• When my friend's replacement pizza was brought out it was clear it was rushed and not quite ready
• I was actually quite impressed with my gluten free offering
• Their pizza was always good and served up the way I like it
• I went along to their 30th Birthday celebration combined with the launch of their Star Wars pizza menu
• Mammas Pizzeria is small but a great place for groups
• Mamma's been around since I was a student at uni and drinking in the grassmarket area
• It says what it is on the tin
• Stop here if you want a quick bite to eat with friends after a few beers
• Staff at the restaurant are outstanding and Very helpful
• The staff is one of the best in Edinburgh
• The Pizzas we ordered was very good and the prices are acceptable considering the restaurant is situated in the heart of Edinburgh
