I came to Devil's Advocate with a friend for a quick drink while in Old Town
-
The restaurant/bar is modern in style but has a rustic edge that allows it to fit in with its location
-
The ambience is very chilled and the staff helpful without being intrusive
-
They have an extensive drinks menu with an impressive range of wines across a wide price range which I appreciated as well as a sample cocktails which where hard to resist
-
I didn't have any food I took a look at the menu and it looked amazing with dishes that were all classical British/Scottish in route which had all been given an interesting modern twist
-
We were booked in for dinner with friends and got a cosy booth
-
The cocktails making is a show and the results are art
-
I would recommend booking if you are a larger group or want food
-
The Devils Advocate is in a very atmospheric location and the feeling of intrigue of walking down a misty close is fantastically complemented by the warm and intriguing view through the glass windows
-
It manages to be spacious but snug at the same time and though the menu is small you can still find some great options and a super burger
-
The cocktails were great and of the same quality as those served at the Bon V you will be glad to know
-
Ordered a mixture of food and the service was quick for a busy bustling evening

The Devil's Advocate is set in a fantastic location in the Old Town and easily accessible from New Town
-
All I was hoping is the food would match the setting
-
My corn fed chicken with Moroccan spices
-
Harissa and Couscous was exceptionally good
-
The flavours were perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice
-
The chicken was beautifully cooked too
-
My friend went for the vegetarian option with the arancini with salad and she was highly impressed too
-
The cheese board was very good too
-
The only very slight downside to our experience was that the music turned up a few notches over the course of the night which made conversation a bit difficult
-
When I heard the guys at Bon Vivant on Thistle Street in Edinburgh were opening a third restaurant in the old town I knew I had to check it out
-
The bar and restaurant is tucked away on Advocate&rsquo
-
Disappointed that there was only one vegetarian main dish on the menu
-
The best thing about The Devil's Advocate (Old Town) is the mixologist Lachie
-
Just tell him the flavor you are wanting and he mixes sublime cocktails
-
Nice little cosy place with good music and good food
-
The place has a traditional look from inside with a sweet little outside seating area
-
They are a small place with a even smaller kitchen but the chef seems to know what he's doing
-
One of the waitresses did tell us that they were theming their last order for food at 2100hrs
-
I noticed that they were taking food orders from other way after 2100hrs
-
This was a weird experience as I was left wondering now why would she lie
-
Went for dinner with the family
-
The meat and produced were really fresh and tasty
-
The quality of the ingredients is probably what stood out most
-
The sauce flavor was pretty subtle and was not that amazing
-
An old establishment that became a wonderfully decorated place with more than 200 whiskies
-
