Cucina - G&V Royal Mile Hotel (Old Town)

• If you are anywhere in the Old Town around midday and you are feeling hungry
• V hotel and was really looking forward to the breakfast in Cucina
• The waiters were very attentive and friendly
• The pancakes are so delicious
• The artist formerly known as Hotel Missoni) is a spot I&rsquo
• I spied a good pre theatre deal via bookatable and thought it would make for a nifty central location for a catch up blether with my buddy Louise
• As befits a resto with a pricey a la carte menu
• I was lucky enough to be invited along and was impressed with what the staff caught on their fishing expedition a couple of days earlier
• Fish goujon with homemade tartare sauce
• The fish goujon was soft with a crispy light batter served with a tangy
• The mackerel was cooked beautifully with a lovely caramel colouring to it
• Sweet and succulent but the risotto and courgettes were a little undercooked for my liking
• I felt the lashings of parmesan cheese was required to help the flavours along a bit
• Line caught cod with carrot puree
• The white cod against the bright orange carrot puree and the slight yellow tint to the parsnip crisps along with the earthy dark browns of the mushrooms
• Very pretty indeed and there were a lot of Wows
• A close contender with the mackerel for the best dish of the night
• The lady fingers were soft and drenched in coffee liqueur
• This dinner was a tribute to the sea and the wonderful resources that we in Scotland have right on our doorstep
• Serves a sophisticated take on authentic Italian cuisine using the best of local Scottish produce
• Cucina is located centrally and is beautifully done up
• The best value is the set menu definitely the way forward or the food will seem overpriced SJ
