  • It was no issue we were seated by the waitress and settled in

  • We were served with a large dish of dauphoinise which I really liked

  • I came here on Friday evening with a friend and we had booked a table for 6pm

  • The restaurant was fairly quiet at this time which was nice but did feel a bit strange

  • The wine i ordered came in a little glass tumbler as opposed to a wine glass which i was aware they did but it did still seem weird drinking wine that way

  • Dessert we had a lemon sorbet and a creme brulee which was very good as well

  • The restaurant started to get very busy fairly quickly and became pretty noisy so we were quite happy once we finished eating to move on somewhere else

  • I gave the review a 3.5 because the evening was good enough but it wasn't spectacular the food was good but the atmosphere was a bit of a non starter

  • Chez Jules is reckoned by some as a bit of a find

  • Choosing the half lobster which was just great served up with french fries

  • Wasn't impressed with the haphazard traditional plating

  • Our steaks were cooked perfectly

  • I have to say the cream was the only part I liked

  • As the orange sauce was just too rich for my tastes

  • As the experience is overwhelmingly continental

  • Their lunch menu is extraordinarily priced

  • Decoration were legit good

  • Everything was very tasty but I didn't like the desert

  • One of them was Chez Jules

  • There are pillars and blackboards on which menus and specials are scrawled in colourful chalk

  • The lighting is dimmed in the evenings

  • Viv started with the grilled goats cheese which was served on toast with balsamic and sesame dressing

  • I went for the sauteed homemade duck confit leg with fresh thyme and garlic

  • The steak tartare was finely chopped and you could taste the luscious flavour of the meat

  • Lightly spiced with Worchester sauce

  • Slow braised French rabbit leg with Dijon mustard

  • Smoked bacon with gratin dauphinois

  • The crisp bread that it was served on nicely soaked up all that lovely sauce

  • We both enjoyed our meal there the food was simple and satisfying

  • Lunch time is super good value with their menu du jour

  • The food is delicious and the service was pretty fast and efficient for being so busy

  • Four of us shared/devoured the macaroni cheese as a starter then I plumped for the very reasonably priced rump steak (perfectly cooked and with its own dish of dauphinoise potatoes too)

  • Caramel and peanuts to end and all washed down with decent red wine

  • The atmosphere is very relaxed and youthful

  • 9.95 including some of the best steak and chips I've ever had

  • I was sat at a table with a rather rickety bench which added a bit of excitement to my lunch

  • Our first adventure of Food Club was a roaring success

  • Some Snails were unshelled and a duck leg was devoured

  • Salmon was leaping from the plate in joy while a plate of meat was served like a feast

  • Apple and Black pudding was proudly gobbled

  • More beers flowed as the main course was served "

  • Pink tender steak served with a memorable half lobster

  • Were on the side with a selection of awe inspiring sauces

  • How about King Scallops with crispy bacon or perhaps a luscious chicken primed for consumption

  • The overwhelming choice was for banoffee toffee pie

  • The meal ended with the customary payment of the bill and a photo with the lovely staff

  • The staff are so easy going even though the place is jampacked and it creates a brilliant atmosphere

  • So I thought it was about time that I check them out

  • As soon as we were settled at our table

  • Lettuce and salami was brought to our able which was a lovely touch

  • We all ended up ordering steak and I was pleased to find the service was really quick as I was one hungry lady

  • The rump steak was delicious and cooked exactly how I wanted it to be

  • I ended up getting some fries on the side which were pretty lovely too

  • I ended up going for the crepe which was incredibly tasty but I did find it odd that I was given a spoon for it

  • The spoon was perfect for the ice cream (which was quite possible the tastiest ice cream) but made eating my crepe a little on the tricky side

  • I look at French restaurant with a rather overly critical eye

  • If you like seafood this is totally your bag

  • Oh and it's a sharing dish so if you decided to bring another uncultured brute with you then this totally the time to get Frenchified

  • I've heard there are other things on the menu but I'm a heathen of habit so I've had this twice

  • I love the green salad that comes with the bread and butter

  • Because even the house wine from these countries are already pretty darn good

  • Went there on a business dinner and it was a very nice experience

  • Only bad thing is that we were a bit crammed

  • Most likely because our group of 16 was a bit too big

  • A piece of France in Scotland with some great traditional and contemporary cuisine

  • The set meal that they offer is great value

  • Good place to enjoy time with friends and family

  • Had been warned that service is very French
