Blue Ginger (King's Heath)

• Having gained some notoriety when it was featured as a hidden gem in Olive Magazine a few years ago
• Although it was mid week when restaurants are traditionally quiet
• Blue Ginger was nicely busy
• This small restaurant is run by Singaporean owner Siew Kuan
• Perhaps the most intriguing of which is the carrot cake
• The fish otaks are described as a fish mousse and have an almost eggy consistency to them
• Rambutan and jackfruit curry was a delicious and unusual dish
• Its red Thai style curry was deliciously medium spiced and although there could have been more of the roast duck
• The sweet fruitiness of the rambutan and jackfruit complemented the sauce superbly and was finished off with sticky Jasmine rice
• The spirits selection is limited and simply listed by the type of alcohol rather than the brand
• From a date through to a celebration with friends or simply an excuse to eat out
• The dessert was well worth the space reserved in the dessert stomach
