Abu Zayd (Small Heath)

• My favourite is the Jerk chicken and the big hand made burgers
• The service is excellent and the restaurant is very clean
• The restaurant is in the heart of the Arab quarter
• I would recommend the 100% beef burgers which are a family favourite and are always cooked to perfection
• Abu zayds have recently put mutton chops on their menu which are also very tasty and nicely marinated
• Another to look out for is the T Bone and the mixed grill which will give you a little idea of everything on the menu
• Ok to begin with I eat a lot of Arab food from Lebanese to Palestinian food I've been fortunate to try a wide varying palette of food from the Middle East

• I ordered hummus shawarma which is basically hummus with shawarma meat on top
• Shawarma meat was fine and tasty glad to see they didn't cook it on hot plate with added sauces etc
• Kofta kebabs a big let down cooked until as dry as leather just over cooked and thrown on palate with a mountain of rice
• I think this is what keeps many people loyal to abu zayd
• Went there few times with friends and they always serve good food
• Their shawarma is good but not the best in bham and can't be compared to real shawarma in the arab world (missing abu dhabi already
• Their hummus is a 4/5 though
• They put some pasta with their rice
• Definitely one of the best restaurants in birmingham
• There rice is exceptional and second to none
