  • Satay House is definitely somewhere worth trying out

  • The food itself was wonderful we shared plenty of chicken

  • Price wise it was pretty fair we had both over ordered the food and requested multiple drinks and yet the bill came to around £

  • So I would expect it to be a little less with more considerate use of the menu

  • Having lived in Melbourne (where I've had the best ever satay

  • I love their tofu starters though the tofu skewers are exceptional

  • Satay House (Paddington) is quite small despite having two levels so its best to go with a reservation during peak times

  • This is a great place for large groups though as staff are lovely and super patient (try going out with a group that's keen to split 89 p equally

  • So a group of friends say they are heading eat at Satay House came up I jumped at the chance for some Malaysian food

  • The restaurant is hidden away behind the many Arab restaurants on edgeware road

  • Satay House itself is very small

  • We managed to get large big table downstairs which was within what can be described as a cave

  • The other mains were 2 chicken dishes

  • My rendang was really nice

  • So value wise is just above average

  • They don't deal with groups of people very well

  • In fact they were trying to get us to agree to set menu and pre order

  • So just go with a few people and enjoy

  • Satay House is about a 10 minute walk from Paddington station

  • The service was quite slow

  • Chicken Satay (lamb option is also available) &ndash

  • Juicy morsels of chicken thigh with irresistible char coal grill marks &

  • Deep fried tofu stuffed with beansprouts

  • The vegetables are refreshing

  • Eggplant stir fried with fresh chillies and shrimp paste

  • Mung beans are cooked down in thick syrupy coconut milk

  • What makes it special is the delicious palm sugar smell &

  • This is a small restaurant with a plain decor

  • Primarily because everything is cooked fresh from scratch

  • We ordered Satay (6 chicken skewers with peanut sauce) and for our mains we had Kari Ayam (Aromatic chicken curry)

  • Malaysian food in London has yet to have its big stage yet so places are either clustered around Bayswater or dotted around London

  • Love the traditional menu with a lot of Malaysian favourites

  • One of which is actually Teh Tarik

  • Satay House's version was sweet but also great to taste a bit of bitterness as well to temper the taste

  • Most of the time I am also occupied with trying out new recipes

  • Tweaking it to perfection before making sure the dish is good enough for my supperclub

  • Parking a pram in the restaurant space is also quite challenging

  • The dishes were already decided and I did not have a chance to look at the menu but you can be sure that Malaysian favourite noodle dishes such as the char kuay teow and curry laksa are on the menu

  • The general agreement amongst the diners were that the ayam masak merah was not a teeny bit spicy and the prawn sambal could have had chilli heat

  • I can say with conviction that this is great food

  • Beriani and Nasi Goreng with some extra Beriani rice

  • You won't be disappointed with this great flavours and good food

  • Soto (this is particularly super tasty) and curry laksa

  • I had the steamed chicken and rice which was their signature but the quality is now appalling

  • The so called steamed chicken is a small piece of stale and bruised chicken re microwaved (or re re microwaved) totally tough and tasteless and I could not bear to eat it

  • The tapioca melaka pudding is minuscule and one would expect them to be more generous with a price tag of over £
