Salt Cafe (Morningside)

• The premises are light and airy
• The place feels awfully cramped and the breakfast I had was full of things that didn't quite work for me
• That its charms are passing you by
• I think Salt is very worthy of your attention
• First came here for dinner and had a decent burger then a really nice dessert a take on 'tea and 'biscuits' which took the form of a rooibos panna cotta in a teacup with shortbread
• A bustling cafe with stripped back wooden tables contrasting against rather elaborate metal light fittings and a mismatch of metal or simple cotton fabric covered chairs
• The cafe appears small from the outside but is actually deceptively big
• Coffees came soon after and we were pleased that they were good
• We waited quite a while for our food but we didn't really mind as we were not in a rush and they were busy
• Perfectly toasted artisan bread instead of muffins was a great twist and the portion of beautiful silky smokey smoked salmon and Peppery rocket was generous to say the least
• Was the gorgeous truffle hollandaise my only complaint was that I wanted more
• We had to wait quite a while before we were able to get someone's attention to get the bill and then again quite an excessive time to pay
• The waitresses were very friendly and accomodating and the cafe was busy but even though we were in no rush
• I was surprised at how reasonably priced the dishes are (most mains are less than £
• I tried Moules Frites a generous portion of steamed mussels with white wine and parsley
• I came here with my friends a few days ago
• From the outside it looks quite small but once i was inside there are big tables and also a wee bar which allows for plenty of peeps to fit in
• Salt cafe is always busy whenever i go past it and this time was the same as well
• We first sat at the bar and once a table was free we moved over
• I feel the food was expensive but my friends seemed to enjoy their meal
• In the humble suburb of Morningside is a hidden gem for all your coffee and brunch needs
• The interior is best described as an interplay of light and dark tones which make the cafe a cosy roadside spot
• It delivers stunningly good coffee along with Scottish cuisine at a very reasonable price
• Brunch seems to be its most popular time to visit but I found that grabbing a freshly baked croissant and hot coffee in the morning was the best way to experience what Salt has to offer
