Hungry Donkey (Aldgate)

• 30 it was still really quiet which was not a good sign
• The prices were pretty low
• At best this is a lunch venue and I'm afraid at lunch time there are still far better options a stones throw away
• One recent brush with luck was via Instagram when I won a competition run by modern Greek restaurant
• D had my eye on their place while it was under construction
• So the competition win was the perfect reason to go along

• We arrived for a rather late lunch as so for a while had the almost undivided attention of the staff who were kind enough to talk us through the menu and explain the various dishes
• I had the Greek Sausage Plate Me Up which was a plate loaded with tomatoes
• My boyfriend couldn't make his Vegetarian Souvlaki Pita Wrap with Halloumi look photogenic (although he assured me it was delicious and well filled)
• During which time I had to do some convincing to get my boyfriend to share a dessert with me as I had my eye on the Manouri Cheesecake
• This has a sweet top layer (topped with a sprinkling of crumble) but a substantial layer that has a proper taste of the Manouri cheese
• Hungry Donkey Greek restaurant is a light drenched escape from they grey streets of East London
• Went for a quick lunch there today and it was a very good surprise
• The souvlaki lamb pita was freshly made
• Aubergine dip with pita bread was delicious
• Stalked them on Instagram and was drooling over their food photos of delicious Greek food
• It's easy on the pocket and the food is mouth watering
• We just ordered from here in the Zomato office (from Take Eat Easy check it out if you haven't already) and the food was fresh and filled a void
• Me the tomato garlic bread I ordered was too oregano heavy and I wasn't impressed with my souvlaki which again
• Therefore I was on the lookout for some warm and comforting food and Hungry Donkey (Aldgate) seemed like a great idea
• The atmosphere was welcoming and the interior is quite nice
• The two staff that I dealt with were very friendly
• I chose to have the chicken souvlaki wrap to takeaway and while I was waiting for the wrap to be prepared
• One of the guys bought me a glass of water without me asking for it which I thought was a nice gesture so a plus point on the service
• I fell in love with souvlaki wraps a few months ago during a visit to Olive Oil &
• My chicken souvlaki wrap didnt disappointed as the flavours were very well done
• The only negative point thing is the portion size I wish the wraps were slightly bigger as I could have easily eaten atleast another half of that wrap
• Lovely place with good and an even better service
• Hungry Donkey is a relatively new modern Greek restaurant in London
• The restaurant is located in the heart of East London
• Funky restaurant with loud Greek music playing in the background
• It surprised me with all that jazzy music playing softly in the background
• The setting is quite bright
